n a rare diplomatic snub, President Obama is canceling plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next month.
The decision reflects both U.S. anger over Russia's harboring of National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden and growing frustration within the Obama administration over what it sees as Moscow's stubbornness on other key issues, including missile defense and human rights.
Obama will still attend the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but a top White House official said the president had no plans to hold one-on-one talks with Putin while there. Instead of visiting Putin in Moscow, the president will add a stop in Sweden to his early September travel itinerary.

I watched Putin’s inauguration May 2012, when I was over in eastern Europe, just watching him, I commented to my friends there, “That’s a Leader”, like him or not, you can see by his bearing alone that he means business. He’s not the kind of a person you can mess with, and its obvious he loves his country and it’s people. Our guy is a major joke over there, along with Hillary. They had a cartoon show on Russian TV making fun of both of them. LOL, I guess being the smartest President we ever had, doesn’t impress Putin.
That would be the one...
He’s afraid to meet with a guy who might beat him up and take his lunch money.
Being a Christian first and an American second, I have never totally bought into the “American exceptionalism”. Legalized murder of the unborn is a major factor in that.
It’s just breath taking to see Russia moving toward righteousness as America moves in the opposite direction.
What a big whiny baby. Did he also threaten to hold his breath until he turned blue? Bet he stomped off to his room and slammed the door. Maybe he can curl up in Larry or Reggie’s lap for some consoling.
Comment from DU member, which are becoming common there:
“Yet another example of Pres. Obama’s complete capture by the national security state apparatus.
In 2008, candidate Obama said he would meet without preconditions with Iran’s leaders over that country’s nuclear program.
Now, Pres. Obama is playing some kind of little tit-for-tat game with the Russians over something as inconsequential as where this fellow Snowden is located, or that the long-arm of the U.S. is not getting the deference it thinks it deserves to get him in its clutches.
Where has the ‘change’ of Obama gone?
Everyday it seems more and more as if Pres. Obama is/has become the run-of-the-mill, conventional leader that so many of us wanted to be rid of ... it is sad for the nation.”
So I guess that Hagel and Kerry’s meeting with the Rooskis didn’t go so well?
When your leader is aligned with the black Muslim drug gang of Chicago compared to KGB trained experienced leader , what else can one expect?
Maybe Hillary can get her “reset” button working again.
Hmm. . . Putin whale-hunting with Zero ??
Well, that would fix the Moochelle problem. . . (evil grin)
Putin is a man, and a strong leader.
Obama is a punk.
Because gimmicks and sound bites are much cooler than having an actual foreign policy.
Not willing to face difficult situations, retreats to campaign mode.
The estogen-soaked foreign "policy" of this administration is a contruct by Valerie Jarrett, Samantha Power, Susan Rice, John F'n Kerry, the Gay-Boy himself, and who knows how many other sniveling weaklings, historically-illiterate losers, starry-eyed sophomores, and amateurs.
What, Odinga won’t bow to a white guy...
Anything zero tells Putin anything, Putin should say ‘old news.. remember, we have Snowden. Want me to tell you what’s for your lunch today?’
These are the same liars who said diplomacy was the most important to them...
