Fort Hood trial turns bizarre as shooter grills witnesses

The trial of the Fort Hood gunman, who is acting as his own attorney, took a surreal turn as the former Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 in the November 2009 attack grilled witnesses -- including his former boss in the military and a fellow Muslim who spoke to him the day of the shooting..

After a short opening statement in which ex-Army Maj. Nidal Hasan called himself a "mujahedeen," admitted to the rampage and said "the dead bodies will show that war is an ugly thing," Hassan cross-examined prosecution witnesses, including retired Lt. Col Ben Kirk Phillips, his former boss. When pressed by the defendant, Phillips acknowledged that his officer evaluation report had graded Hasan as "outstanding."

Hasan also cross-examined Pat Sonti, who met Hasan at the Killeen Islamic Center in Fort Hood the morning of the shooting. Sonti said Hasan took the microphone at the mosque and called for prayer.

He's going to argue against the Murder charge (which carries the Death Penalty)and admit to the
‘killings” as part of a legitimate war

UCMJ prevents Hassan from pleading guilty to a capital offense. Judge agrees and does not let him plead guilty, but then proceeds to disallow his defense argument. So now all Hassan has is to turn the court room into a Monkey Trail.

There is one reason he was rated OUTSTANDING. He’s a muslim! All muslims are rated OUTSTANDING. It’s a religion of peace, you know.

By his history, he entranced and shilled his way up the military ladder by charming and hoodwinking many, many educated people.

I hope you're not going by his rank when you say that. He was, what, Year Group '99 or '00? If he had a pulse he was going to make lieutenant colonel. Add "muslim" to the list of qualifications and you've likely got a full bird.

Let's dust off that old parched document and see what it says:

U.S. Constitution Article III; Section III:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court...

Let's go over this again and review the case so far:

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them (he opened fire on his fellow soldiers), or in adhering to their Enemies(He said in court he's a member of the "mujahedeen"), giving them Aid and Comfort(using the court as a stage). No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act (there are at least 32 witnesses), or on Confession in open Court(done).

Perhaps someone can tell me why this isn't a textbook case, and why this oxygen thief is still breathing.

Our military is hopeless. He should have been shot in the lookers the day this happened.

A native-born citizen of the U.S., Hassan has already admitted to treason (levying war against the U.S.) and mass murder.

Justice: Death by firing squad tomorrow (against the courthouse wall), plus forfeiture of all assets and survivors’ benefits.

What will happen instead: life in prison, so the Muslims will love us.

Not with this regime. He’ll be given a high ranking post in NASA by obama.

Isn’t that how they do things? Reward evil-doers? Promote them?

It’s not just about this murdering muzzie scum & never has been. Defense tricks & delays don’t even begin to account for the time it has taken for this to come to trial.

NMH’s chain of command up to the Secy Army & the entire PC culture in the military is on trial and the eyes of the survivors & family members are watching closely. A guilty verdict is foregone & when it is handed down the sierra will really hit the ventilator as an avalanche of wrongful death civil suits are hurled at our perfumed Pentagon princes.

For Hasan’s raters, endless appeals are their only ticket to retirement. And once retired, an officer can only be called back to active duty to face charges for a criminal act under UCMJ that he/she committed while originally on active duty.

And how likely is that? Our Hasan nightmare should have ended quickly with a firing squad. Now, this could go on for decades. Hasan will die in prison of old age unless suffocated with his own pillow.
