“Armed assault?”
No, execution by firing squad.
I guess taking a defense position and waiting them out is not standard protocol these days...
So if your family is mowed down in a crosswalk by some cop moving at 85mph, while chasing a 19 year old idiot for stealing a beer, it's OK by you?
“It isn’t clear whether a shot was actually fired at the officer who initiated the chase. Some speculate the Malibu driven by Russell may have backfired.”
calling B.S. on this. Just say “gun” and it then justifies any level of response by LEOs.
“.... it soon became clear that more than a dozen officers had been firing at one another across a middle school parking lot in East Cleveland.”
“City officials have already expanded the timeline for their investigation after learning that more than 115 officers, a third of the force on the road that night, were involved.”
Let me get in on the act, maybe I can fire my gun!

“Cant really work up any tears for scum who runs from or tries to fight the police.”
I’d archive that comment and come back to talk to us if and when Obamacare rolls out, and you can’t afford the premium, or the penalty.
If you hadn’t noticed, the idea here is to criminalize everyone. If everybody is guilty of something, as you no doubt are, then its easy for the police to look at us all as perpetrators, and not citizens.
You can only draw your weapon under certain circumstances, and you can only FIRE it under even more limited circumstances.
137 times?
Absolutely...You'd think they had stopped some mass murdering international terrorist who just blew up 300 people in Cleveland....
Also, why were they willing to assume that the passenger in the car was there willingly? Why wasn’t there an attempt to determine that she wasn’t under some duress by the driver before they shot her? People do sometimes are forced into a car or else unknowingly get into a car driven by a criminal or someone with a record. Why were they all willing to believe she needed to die rather than that she needed to be rescued?
Yeah, well, until then, I won’t lose any sleep over drunk, coked up losers who would rather risk the lives of innocent citizens than face, what, a suspended license/DUI charge?
My family would get out of the way.
Cops kill innocent people all the time when chasing low level, 3rd rate crooks.
And cities and counties get sued into the next century over these moronic pursuits, most of which usually involve some relatively non-violent, low level crime like speeding, a stolen vehicle, outstanding warrants, etc.
Killing innocent people on the streets to make a GD arrest should NEVER be an option.
“Circular Firing Squad”.
Are they Super Heroes?
So if your family is mowed down in a crosswalk by some cop moving at 85mph, while chasing a 19 year old idiot for stealing a beer, it's OK by you?
My family would get out of the way.
lol...And if the stupid 19 year old rear ended them at 85mph due to being chased for that stolen beer, killing them all....Would ya be A-OK with that?
I'd bet the rent you'd be singing quite a different tune...
******MUST READ *******if you want to be informed.
wow....
But after the chase ended in a gunfight near Heritage Middle School, police checked the car and realized neither Williams nor Russell was armed.
How can an intelligent person write this sentence?
No the chase did not end in a gunfight. It ended in an execution!
The victims may have been scumbags but clearly not a single officer involved in this should ever be allowed to carry a weapon around human beings again......
Is that confusing?
They all went totally hysterical after hearing a noise as the suspect vehicle drove by, thinking they were being shot at....wow..
These cops definitely some range time. Of course, now we know why the government needs eight zillion rounds.
There's at least as much chance of that as there is of them getting mowed down in a crosswalk by a 19 year-old beer thief being chased by the cops.
