Abuse of law enforcement officers and even officers not intended forlaw enforcement by the current administration is reachingunprecedented levels. Despite campaign promises of greatertransparency, clear violations of accepted practices and even lawbreaking are stonewalled or spun away by the current Democratic administration.

While the legal and constitutional controversies seem to be popping up with an ever increasing frequency, scandals are nothing new to this administration.

A lot of patriots "turning over in their graves". Scoundrels like Obama, Holder and Peliosi must feel like pigs in mud though...

I would bet that 7 out of 10 with student loans voted for the “chosen one”

Just one more easy issue for whoever wants to be the Republican nominee for President to exploit.

De-militarizing government bureaucracies.

RE :”Wright reportedly learned later that the raid was conducted by the U.S. Department of Education, rather than local police officers.”

You catch this?

Of course. He was couching hidden, coded promises of loan forgiveness in virtually every speech he gave to them.

Whoever it is will be telling us a pack of lies about wanting smaller, less intrusive government anyway, so sure, they may as well tell us some lies about that, too.

Can anyone enlighten me about usbcnews.com? Their about page is the most uninformative about page I’ve ever seen.

This is BS. The raid wasn’t for an “unpaid student loan”. It was a raid over a fraudulent student loan scam. Also, while the cops were wearing protective gear, they apparently weren’t a real SWAT team. This couple was up to no good.

Per Fox News: “A California man who initially claimed to a local television station that he was roughed up by “SWAT team” members who allegedly battered down his front door to execute a search warrant related to his estranged wife’s unpaid student loans was targeted due to an ongoing probe into alleged financial aid fraud ...

In a statement to FoxNews.com, Education Department Press Secretary Justin Hamilton confirmed that its Office of Inspector General executed the warrant with the presence of local law enforcement authorities.

“While it was reported in local media that the search was related to a defaulted student loan, that is incorrect,” the statement read. “This is related to a criminal investigation. The Inspector General’s Office does not execute search warrants for late loan payments.”

Spell checker strikes again:

Apparently, the raid was conducted in an attempt to locate his wife, but the resident, Kenneth Wright, noted that his three children were placed in a police car, and handcuffing write as they would a criminal. Wright reportedly learned later that the raid was conducted by the U.S. Department of Education, rather than local police officers.

Handcuffing write? Or handcuffing Wright?

The use of SWAT teams and paramilitary equipment by non-police agencies in the US was only recently authorized by congress. They basically said that any agency that wanted guns and a tactical team could have and use them.

And repeal of this terrible idea should be one of the first small things done by a Republican congress, with something like a “Non-Police Agency Demilitarization Act”. It would initiate the reform and consolidation of the 100+ federal police agencies into perhaps two dozen, a large number of which are military.

It should go hand in glove with discontinuing the program of providing surplus heavy weaponry to local police departments.

Importantly, this can also be done at the state level by requiring existing stores of military grade weapons owned by local police to be stored and maintained by the county Sheriffs department.

Seriously, local police do not need belt fed machine guns, fragmentation grenades, and restrictions need to be made on the use of armored and military weaponized vehicles.

Next there needs to be a “Posse Comitatus Restoration Act”, which prohibits police actions by regular military personnel in the US.

After that, a “War Powers Restoration Act”, which clearly describes how, what for, and for how long a president can order military operations without the permission of congress.

Simple Google search brings up more accurate information than this intentionally inflammatory article.

Probably more, may they enjoy their raids while they enjoy the fact that they grossly over paid for a useless degree.

Geez, this must be the reason they are arming all the seedy little departments.

They intend to act as cops now.

That was the part that flagged my attention.

Armed Dept of education agents busting down doors to recover student loans?

This is a far cry from the warm and fussy loving Ma-ma government that Obama talks about campaigning.

Must be where that ammo is going too.
