Tea party plans to abandon GOP stars

This wasn’t the revolution the tea party had in mind.

Four years ago, the movement and its potent mix of anger and populism persuaded thousands of costumed and sign-waving conservatives to protest the ballooning deficit and President Obama’s health care law. It swept a crop of no-compromise lawmakers into Congress and governor’s offices and transformed political up-and-comers, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, into household names.

But as many tea party stars seek re-election next year and Rubio considers a 2016 presidential run, conservative activists are finding themselves at a crossroads. Many of their standard-bearers have embraced more moderate positions on bedrock issues such as immigration and health care, broadening their appeal in swing states but dampening grass-roots passion.

“They keep sticking their finger in the eyes of the guys who got them elected,” said Ralph King, a co-founder of the Cleveland Tea Party Patriots. “A lot of people are feeling betrayed.” …

I guess that Ryan, Rubion, et al., have never understood the concept of “Ya gotta dance with the one what brung you.”

The gop is now just an internal division of the democrat party. They exist... just not as real republicans.

Cruz came from communist tyranny... Cruz understands the enemy and was raised to despise the enemy because his father grew up in cuba under tyranny... coburn became communist tyranny.

Let's face it, both the demodummie Rats and the lack luster, spineless Repubs are deathly afraid of the Tea Party. We sure a hell don't see a lot of publicity given to the Tea Party except now that the IRS has been stonewalling various Tea Party groups requesting 501(c)3 status has been being labeled a “phony scandal”.

As a long time Repub voter, I am watching the Tea Party much more closely as I see them a BIG THREAT to both the demodummies and the Repubs parties. Might be the horse to put my money on.

Sad that people like Rubio LIED to get support from the Tea Party and then stabbed us in the back much like obama did to his constituents. The difference is that we sometimes work to get our own LIARS unelected while liberals LOVE LIARS and do anything to keep them in office.

Ryan? Dunno why anyone even cared/supported/pushed him. He’s a TARPer, and all TARPers are suspect.

Perhaps because he appeared to be slightly more conservative than his more liberal running made. I think a lot of the post-election 'support' for him was media managed, as they try to set up their next GOPe candidate.

Listening to a report on how much damage the sequester has done to our military scares the shxx out of me.

Any "damage" done to the military due to the sequester is the result of conscious decisions made by the administration.  The numbers involved in the sequester so far are miniscule compared to government budgets.

Are you trying to say that the sequester shouldn't be happening?

It is terrible to contemplate how few politicians are hanged.

Not a bad idea at all, BUT will get you the ‘Racist’ label for suggesting it.

How about TAR and FEATHERS, then DRUM them out of DC - the old fashioned way.

That should draw a crowd.

If we could only! Just too damn PC now to make a difference.

Interesting that “back in the day” duels and Tar and Feathering” kept em straight or at least looking over their shoulders.

Now, we just receive the endless bulk mailings from the “wanna get rich”. Give directly we support. Time for a cleansing.

Yes, I expect more .. but that’s not a guarantee I’ll get it.

However, up to this point, Ryan has had a great record.

Doesn’t anybody get that Schumer coaxed Rubio into his “gang” in order to marginalize Rubio. It appears, it has worked.

I don’t want that to happen to Ryan. Maybe Rubio will clue Ryan in.
