Amash: Snowden is a whistleblower
The Hill ^ | August 4, 2013 | Brendan Sasso

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) said on Sunday that he believes National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden is a whistleblower, not a traitor.

"He may be doing things overseas that we would find problematic, that we would find dangerous," Amash said on Fox News Sunday. "But as far as Congress is concerned, sure he is a whistleblower. He told us what we need to know."

Amash explained that although members of the intelligence committees were informed of the details of the NSA's surveillance, most lawmakers were in the dark about the programs.

"Without his doing what he did, members of Congress would not really have known about it," the Republican lawmaker said.

I could have respected Snowdens actions if he stayed and faced the consequences of his actions. If he truly were engaged in civil disobedience.

The core of civil disobedience is the willingness to pay the price. To run reflects no moral high ground to his action.

I respect Snowden and hope I would have the guts to do the same.
Why on earth should he f up his life by agreeing to go to a US prison for the rest of his life??? That is what an idiot does
Blame Obama (traitorous scumbag) for forcing Snowden to seek asylum in Russia so that now the Russians will get all NSA secrets.

I do not like these raids, but there was a warrant.

At least the poor Ex was not shot.

I was surprised and heartened that the Fox poll showed that 55% of Americans view him as a whistle blower.

I still have not heard of any classified data that he has exposed or any personnel that he has endangered. The Obama administration gave away more intel after the Bin Laden raid and special forces lost lives as a result.

I have successfully avoided the beltway cesspool my entire life.

I used to visit there and know what is going on. Washington DC and suburbs have a huge huge immigrant (from every place) population and this was true even 25 years ago and came to me as a shock.

They all want to be where the money is and Washington +suburbs is recession proof

“Washington +suburbs is recession proof “

The business of DC is ‘government,’ and business is booming. . .always has, always will.

He lost the whistle blowing status when he took a lot of the stuff on the hard drive with him out of a secured area.

At that point he became a problem for the country IMO.

Whistle blow all you want, fine, but don't go take tons of sensitive information with you out of the computers. At that point you are a spy and should be IMO shot on sight.

“One day we will find out that Valerie Jarrett was behind a lot of this treason and criminal activity”

What makes you believe that anything will ever come out or be known as far as the criminality of these people? We already know enough.

I guess I just don’t realistically see anyone getting the justice they deserve. No one will be held accountable much less the truth come out. This is when people fear the government. No one was held accountable or brought to justice from the Soviet Union and won’t happen here either.

It is only going to get far far worse I’m afraid.

BTW, proud to say Cruz is MY Senator from MY state. . yes I own the state and yes, because of my one vote in the primary and run-off, Cruz went on to win the Senate race.

And my problem with the fellow is he cherry picked information to leak.
He made wild accusations against his country, and can not provide proof.
If he has the proof, he took it to communist countries.
Just what is his game?
To make US fearful of the USA and to sympathize with China and Russia as benevolent governments?

I smell a rat.

It was posted on FR a while ago. The ex owed a couple thousand on an unpaid school student loan, IIRC. At least they didn’t shoot the dog or cat.

The warrant’s got a link at the article:

Story went down a rabbit hole after the city settled. Stockton also went bankrupt.
