I think the homeschooled kids are winning the Geography Bee. East Indian children are winning the spelling bee, lately.
You got that right! It seems that the solution to any problem is to have moral parents more involved in their children’s lives.
I’ve homeschooled five kids. Discipline is key. If your kids are squalling brats, roll up your sleeves and deal with it. Sure, it’s easier to send them to government drones to tolerate for a day. Parenting is hard WORK. I understand completely a need for a break here and there, but don’t let’s use the excuse that we can’t home school our kids due to their being squalling brats! They are OUR kids, right? We set the behavior standards.
It would be nice to be independently wealthy so that both parents could have more involvement in the children’s education. I realized long ago that a bigger or fancier house wouldn’t make me any happier ... although I would really like a shed!

When did godlessness and socialism ever produce moral parents or citizens?
Yet...Godlessness and socialism is what is taught in **every** government owned and run Borg-machine indoctrination center!
Children who attend godless schools **will** learn to think and reason godlessly. They must just to cooperate in the godless school and with the godless instruction. It is impossible not to. How could it be otherwise?
And...Children in compulsory attendance and socialist-entitlement K-12 indoctrination centers risk learning to be comfortable with socialism and government compulsion. Hey! Any voting mob powerful enough to give a child tuition-free schooling is certainly powerful enough to give them **lots** of “free” stuff.
All this stat means is that home schooled kids likely have involved, intelligent parents who are likely wealthier and smarter than the average parents.
Your ignorance of homeschoolers and homeschooling is staggering.
——————————————————————————————Great post. Thank you for saving me the time to respond to this poster. You nailed it.
We could all be more productive with a bigger shed :-)
ehhh. All they do is fill up with junque. Ask me how I know. Ok, I’ll tell you. I have a double garage!!
Well, I may have to agree with you there, but just because you had terrible parents who apparently didn't give a damn about their kids doesn't mean others do.

Involved? YES, DEFINITELY. Homeschooling requires you to be involved.
Smarter than average? I'd like to believe that we are, but we probably are not. INVOLVEMENT seems to be the key.
Wealthy? DEFINITELY NOT. We're from all walks of life, but most of us are struggling financially. Homeschooling is a full-time job with no paycheck.
the public school scores are dragged down by the scores of blacks and hispanics.
There has been a big boom in homeschooling among black families. (I don't know if that's true for Hispanic families.) It's the method of education that makes the difference, not the person's ethnic heritage.
We have a double garage, too. Half has the Purple Car in it, and the other half is full of bicycles, camping gear, and Stuff. If we could put the yardwork tools in a shed and the camping gear in a bigger attic, the rest of the garage stuff could be kept under control. (I imagine ...)
I didn’t have terrible parents....my point was that only a small percentage of American parents have the resources to home school their children. I’m all for home schooling if practicable. But the facts are in most cases either both parents work, the parents are not qualified to teach, or both. If the parent is qualified, fine. But how many parents are qualified to teach higher level math, physics, and chemistry? Don’t expect every family to be able to pull their kids out of school and home school them.
And how do you know most parents are qualified? My parents weren’t. Maybe 20-30% are. At lower grade levels probably more. How many parents are qualified to teach upper level math, physics, chemistry, etc? How many families do you think have a parent who can stay home while the other parent works and is qualified to teach? And in today’s society, usually both parents work. I’ve stated previously, I’m all for home schooling if practicable. But only a small percentage of families will be able to do so.
That’s what you think! LOL!
Just wishful thinking, huh?
My brother’s wife homeschools the children while he works. Yes, it’s a huge financial sacrifice for them but the kids are well-behaved, smart and committed Christians. But it has been worth it and God has continued to guide them as they live life together.
Nature abhors a vacuum or something like that.
Too true ... and I firmly believe inanimate objects reproduce, and also eat one another.
People can educate themselves. You sound like the gungrabbers who can’t comprehend that law-abiding citizens can learn to safely handle firearms and shoot really well them. That’s only for police and military folks.
