An 'Officer of the Year' for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is now under investigation after security footage was released showing him attacking a 60-year-old man who was just reporting a burglary.
Last September, victim Brian Hudkins was in town for a business conference. He was staying at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis with one of his employees, Andrew Davis.
After dinner, the two went back to the hotel, but Davis was locked out of his room. He heard people behind the door and called Hudkins, believing it was a burglary. The two went downstairs to report the incident to hotel management and asked that they call the police.
Officer T. Michael Wilson responded to the call, and his exchange with the two men was recorded on hotel security camera footage obtained by WISH.
After only 16 seconds speaking to the two men, Officer Wilson tackled Mr Hudkins to the ground.
Wilson wrote in his report that Mr Hudkins was told to 'quiet' down and refused.
The officer said he 'attempted to push Mr Hudkins backwards and away from the situation' but the man 'forcibly' pushed backwards.
The surveillance footage shows quite a different story....
WISH showed the video to Police Chief Rick Hite, who said he had never seen the video before. The station later found out it was sent to the department five months ago......
Since the incident, Hudkins has filed a lawsuit asking for $700,000 in damages.
He says that he was forced to give a guilty plea the night he was arrested to get the charges off his record.
They also made him promise to stay away from the hotel and donate $500 to a police charity.

Lots of cops are nutters. But they are certified to “take charge” of any situation.
I’ll say it again;we need peace officers NOT law enforcement thugs.
Just like the local benevolent police & state trooper assoc calls around here and acts worse than experienced telemarketers asking for money, hinting that your car having their sticker on it will get you favors if you are pulled over, and as much as threatening you with their LEGAL harassment if you dont.
Havent gotten beat up yet but quite a few are pissed at me for calling them on it.
Look at the video. The man has his hands BEHIND HIS BACK the entire time before the cop assaults him.
If this is “officer of the yea” material, the whole damn force needs to be terminated. F’n goon squad.
‘Roid rage?
Wow! Pepper spraying a pizza? I really hadn’t noticed the criminal behavior of pizzas.
I don’t believe either Andy or Barney would have done that, even to a malevolent pizza.
That explains it he was honored by the Mulato Child from Kenya. I guess the Usurper will be honoring all of his yes men.
Saves the need to put some habenaro on it later.
At least the officer made it home that night, and that’s what’s important.
These type incidents are either happening more frequently, or they are just reported more often now.

I'm sure you watched the same video I did, it showed it all. The cop is nuts......
If it was a Domino's pizza, I would have eaten it...
Disclaimer: I eat habeneros raw for breakfast.

If you ever wondered why cops hate so much being filmed, it's because they then cannot get away with lying to get innocent people railroaded.
They can all rot in hell. And, happily, they will.
;-\
It is a peculiarity that those who get “...of the year” awards for some reason go nuts after.
“Teacher of the year”, who suddenly turn into abusive pedophiles or something.
“Employee of the year”, who immediately begin embezzling and sexually harassing others.
etc.
Yeah, the only thing I can think of that could justify the cops reaction is the guy sez something to instigate it and it would need be something like "I got a gun behind my back" or "I'm going grab you and make you me luv puppy" or some other such crap.
Without audio it doesn't give us the whole story but if I was on a jury I would award the Old Guy the Cop's house.
Sounds like a bullies and wimps game. Well the wimp might not be able to do much on the spot about the bully but he can at least try not to wimp out, instead calling on the God of all power.
Well, men’s praise is a fragile stay indeed and often an erroneous judge. I’m sure there are lots of of-the-year winners who behave themselves decently to a superficial view, but the irony is palpable when they don’t.
