Salons Andrew OHehir has fingered the main culprits behind Detroits bankruptcy. According to him, its none other than Fox News host Sean Hannity and all his fellow racist conservatives who were threatened by Smokey Robinson.
In his July 27 screed for Salon headlined Why the Right Hates Detroit OHehir claimed the fall of big cities like Detroit and New Orleans had less to do with longtime Democratic rule and more to do with the rights desire, as seen in the coded racism of Sean Hannity to punish the cities that spawned the worldwide revolution symbolized by hot jazz, Smokey Robinson dancin to keep from cryin and Eminem trading verses with Rihanna.
The following is the relevant excerpt from the July 27 Salon article:
Is it pure coincidence that these two landmark cities, known around the world as fountainheads of the most vibrant and creative aspects of American culture, have become our two direst examples of urban failure and collapse? If so, its an awfully strange one.
Im tempted to propose a conspiracy theory: As centers of African-American cultural and political power and engines of a worldwide multiracial pop culture that was egalitarian, hedonistic and anti-authoritarian, these cities posed a psychic threat to the most reactionary and racist strains in American life. I mean the strain represented by Tom Buchanan in The Great Gatsby (imagine what hed have to say about New Orleans jazz) or by the slightly more coded racism of Sean Hannity today. As payback for the worldwide revolution symbolized by hot jazz, Smokey Robinson dancin to keep from cryin and Eminem trading verses with Rihanna, New Orleans and Detroit had to be punished. Specifically, they had to be isolated, impoverished and almost literally destroyed, so they could be held up as examples of what happens when black people are allowed to govern themselves.
This it the second place I’ve seen this. I heard it through the grapevine.
Some times you’ve got to stop singing and dancing and do some work.
More like Andrew NoHair.
It was rap and hip hop that destroyed Motown, I was there.
C’mon man, despise? that’s kinda harsh. I think Hannity’s a milquetoast. I kringe ever time he sucks up to McCain and I suppose he’s trying to appear objective. However, you’re right, despise, I dunno, no balls, okay, I’ll go with that.
Detroit and New Orleans are perfect examples of what happens when black people are allowed to govern themselves.
You just have to laugh at crap like this.
I despise Hannity...
...on what grounds, might I ask...?
He’s a grade A full-of-himself jerk. And an insecure jerk at that. His ego needs to be massaged continually. And now for the last 3 nights he’s been on a crying jag because Al Sharpton said something about him he didn’t like. He’s in his full blown “oh, poor little old me” routine and virtually begging guests to back him up. And he’s a chickenhawk. I usually hate that word, but it describes him perfectly. Always eager for military action here, there, or wherever, but serving in the military himself was beneath him.
Considering how many times Hannity had him on his show and always introduced him as, "My very good friend, the reverend Al Sharpton"
I think that it is very important to put the liberal point of view on public display to people who go out of their way to avoid the very sight of it.
Sometimes we need to be reminded of what we are fighting against.
Detroit is Bankrupt Because Racists Like Sean Hannity Hate Motown Music...?
What the hell is this?...Black Pretzel Logic?
This stuff is too crazy to even be worth arguing with.
This looks like a guy we would have beat up back in the day because he could not play well with others.
If racists like Sean Hannity didn’t ever buy Motown Music, Motown Music would have lasted about 16 minutes.
No, more like Andrew NoBrain.
I rarely watch any TV news anymore, except during some breaking news event that I consider important. I don’t like the Fox shouting matches or the MSM bias, so I get my news on the net.
Considering how many times Hannity had him on his show and always introduced him as, “My very good friend, the reverend Al Sharpton”
Yup. I always got a hoot out of that.
Linking Hannity to MoTown music or anything Detroit is a stretch of a twisted lieberal triangulated mind. Just wackadoodle insanity.
PS. Sean does a pretty good job with his ‘fair and balanced’ routine with Libs but he treats them with cordial grace and not afraid to challenge them either.
Used to listen to Motown music at Audubon Tavern II in Uptown N’Awlins. Man, those were the days...
