A majority of Americans support controversial stand your ground laws, according to a new poll, but their views are sharply divided along racial lines.
Voters back the self-defense laws 53 percent to 40 percent, according to a new poll from Quinnipiac, but when broken down by race, black and white voters have opposite views. White voters support such laws in their state 57 percent to 37 percent, while black voters oppose the laws 57 percent to 37 percent. Hispanic voters are split, with 44 percent supporting the laws and 43 percent opposing.
With stand your ground laws a popular target of Democrats after a jury found George Zimmerman not guilty in the killing of teen Trayvon Martin, the poll had more mixed news for President Barack Obama.
Obamas approval ratings continued to be underwater in the poll, with 46 percent approving and 48 percent disapproving of the job hes doing. Thats 2 points higher approval than in July, but the same rate of disapproval as Quinnipiacs last such poll.

The DemocRATS’ “Run and Hide and Wait For A Cop” bill isn’t going to cut it. Stay armed my friends.
In the midst of all the "rights" pulled out of thin air the right to stand your ground is one of the genuine civil rights of American citizens.

I’m gonna keep saying this :
SYG laws are a reminder to the state that if someone is justified in using deadly force on another person, retreat is not a viable option.
Don’t punish someone for backing down if doing so is more likely to result in their grave harm than fighting back. Just because there is, or may be, a retreat path doesn’t mean reduced odds of harm by taking it.
Despite the fact that Stand Your Ground had nothing to do with this case. Was Zimmerman supposed to dig a hole in the concrete to distance himself from the thug who was on top of him, pummeling him?
Not to be overly technical, but you meant “Stand your Concrete.”
Cement is the stuff that holds the concrete together, it’s not the concrete itself.
Oh go ahead, be overly technical. :^) You’re right...
A pretty impressive majority, given how the MSM has demonized the law.
