The former information technology director for State Attorney Angela Corey is suing for wrongful termination.
Ben Kruidbos sued Coreys office Thursday saying he was illegally fired in June after he testified that prosecutors did not turn over all information to George Zimmermans defense team in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.
He is asking for $5 million or more in damages and his job back.
The lawsuit states Kruidbos could not be fired for testifying in a judicial proceeding in response to a subpoena. It also argues that the firing was retaliation for his testimony in the Zimmerman case.
Its important to understand that were not just saying my client was wrongfully terminated, attorney Wesley White said. Were also saying that the state attorney broke the law.
Florida law prohibits firing people for testifying in trials theyve been subpoenaed to take part in, and thats what Corey did to Kruidbos, White said.
The lawsuit should also send a message to Corey that she has no right to fire dedicated employees who are trying to do the right thing, White said.
The letter firing Kruidbos said he did a poor job overseeing the information technology department, violated public records law for retaining documents and noted he was questioned in March when the office was trying to determine who had leaked personnel information obtained through a computer breach.
It also said Kruidbos was not a lawyer and didnt have the right to question the ethics and professionalism of the attorneys prosecuting the case..................
Kruidbos used computer software technology to extract photographs and text messages from the source file in Martins cellphone. He was able to recover more information than the Florida Department of Law Enforcement obtained previously.

Elements Of Wrongful Termination Claims
When you have a wrongful termination claim, you will need to prove different elements based on your employee status. The elements that you will have to prove will differ depending on whether you are a contractual employee, employee at will or labor union employee. For example, if you are a contractual employee, then you will need to show that you suffered financial damages as a result of the breach of contract. You may also be able to prove one of the following causes of action in your wrongful termination case:
Discrimination
Retalization
Right to Work Violations
Exceptions to Employment At-Will Laws
Retaliation Claims
A wrongful termination lawyer can help you if you have filed a retaliation claim and have been fired as a result. Workers will typically file retaliation claims when they are working in unhealthy or unsafe conditions in a workplace. A wrongful termination lawyer will help ensure that an employer does not respond to this claim by firing you from your position.
Let the games begin.
I’m just going to guess that he’s not going to be inclined toward a quiet settlement for half that amount. A lot of engineers and software people are going to stand on principle in a case like this, especially when it’s a matter of attempted character assassination.
..having said that, I hope this man gets the whole 5 million!
And I hope George Zimmerman gets NBC, CNN and 100 million.
“The letter firing Kruidbos said he did a poor job overseeing the information technology department, violated public records law for retaining documents and noted he was questioned in March when the office was trying to determine who had leaked personnel information obtained through a computer breach.”
What a coincedence, they didn’t have a problem with him until the GZ trial. 10 bucks says his personnel file is clean with not even a verbal reprimand............until this.
Prosecutorial Misconduct?
Have read that the state bar cannot do anything to her, only the Governor.
In the meantime the Orlando Sentinel continues its role as the public relations agency for the Martins and the Scheme Team:
Trayvon Martin’s parents to appear in Central Florida today
Want to go double or nothing that he actually got a commendation in May of this year?
He should win and win big.
The only problem in situations like this is that the wrongdoer never really has to pay for their arrogance and unscrupulous behavior.
The settlement comes out of the taxpayers hide and the culprit goes on to get promotions, pay raises, bonuses and a fat-cat retirement.
Angela Corey Should Be Fired, Disbarred,
Corey is an evil old hag..
Trayvon Martins parents to appear in Central Florida todaySt. Trayvon has gone from being a big liability to a big asset for mom and dad.
Sometimes things come full circle.
"That's Trayvon."
"Yeah, Trayvon."
And the entire Black Grievance Industry. She trademarked Saint Skittles’ name and some related phrases well within a month of his death. That doesn’t occur to a random grieving mother on its own.
“What a coincedence, they didnt have a problem with him until the GZ trial. 10 bucks says his personnel file is clean with not even a verbal reprimand............until this.”
I remember reading somewhere here that he had gotten “superior” job reviews and had some kind of “gold star” for the quality of his work before this trial. It’s somewhere in the FR archives.
I have only one problem with these “games” - as a Florida resident and tax payer I am going to have to pay for the games.
I would have no problem with paying for the games and the $ 5,000,000 as long as Angela Corey is fired and she is disbarred - forever!
But, there is only one profession that protects their members more than the LMSM and that is the lawyers. So, no matter how illegal Corey’s actions have been she will remain in office and continue to practice her type of “law”.
I love that he is also suing to get his job back. Probably wants to be there to waive bye-bye to Corey on her way out.
I live in Fl and voted for that POS cory. What a freakin mistake. Hope this brings her down........and out.
