If the Senate immigration bill came up for a vote in the House, it would probably pass some of the Republicans and almost all of the Democrats would combine for 218 votes.
But conservatives have extracted promises from John Boehner not to let that happen, and the Speaker has dutifully pledged to keep the House from voting on any bill that lacks the support of most Republicans.
That would seem to make comprehensive reform pretty dead, right? Except Paul Ryan, who clearly wants to pass a bill, floated a way around this promise:
-snip-
So the plan he's discussing here apparently would be to bring some bills to the floor and then find out if most Republicans support them. Of course, the likely outcome is that they discover that an overwhelming majority of Republicans really don't like the bill and vote against it, but it gets 200 Democratic votes and passes, by which point it's too late.

ryan is just another corrupt shyster and not nearly as smart as I thought that he was.
LLS
Sadly, I agree completely.
I suspected as much after Ryan lost his debates to our rocket scientist VP Joe Biden. His support of this amnesty thing confirms it.
Roids. They’re bad for your brain!
Not to worry....Ryan and Rubio will be well paid for their treachery.
If it’s in a currency that’s close to collapse, then they’re both suckers.
Does anyone know when the Senate Bill dies in the House, is it when the House ends it’s session?
Rubio always said what he was really about in Spanish.
He addressed huge crowds of Latinos and headlined La Raza events.
All of which were posted here at Free Republic.
Rubio has never had even one supporter who was not either for open borders or really, really stupid.
What happened to Cantor’s plan? I thought trading off the Dream Act with real border security wasn’t a bad idea.
They are as many ways to buy/pay off a politician, than there are ways for a bartender to steal from the owner.
Yep
Cantor’s dream act is a nightmare. Cantor not only gives amnesty to the “dreamers” but to their relatives, too. And the dreamers can also bring in other relatives that have been deported. A nightmare.
” What happened to Cantors plan? I thought trading off the Dream Act with real border security wasnt a bad idea.”
Oh dear God, help us!!
Anyone who disagrees with me on any issue is by definition corrupt and let’s face it, evil.
He’s become a democrat.
Why not enforce real border security, as is called for under the Constitution, and forget the Dream Act? Why do we need amnesty to enforce the law?
Yep, he had me fooled, too.
I remember Ryan’s appearing on Glenn Beck, long before the 2012 campaign, and Beck’s saying to him: “Please don’t be a scumbag.” I.e., please be what you seem to be; please don’t turn out to be a phony.
Unfortunately, Ryan has turned out to be scumbag. Somebody, somewhere, has presented him with a big suitcase full of money.
