Mark Levin, who hosts one of America's top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people's pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government.
The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama's use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and collar inventive judges.

He is brilliant, but his idea scares the crap out of me. Mainly because today’s Low Information voter is so woefully ignorant of the Constitution. I fear such a convention would get hijacked by activists and begin implementing FDR’s Second Bill of Rights (right to a job, right to health care, etc.)
There has been a Constitutional question out there that no one has been able to really answer for me yet:
When a Constitutional Convention is called, is the matter(s) laid down in the Convention document the only ones that may be discussed?
For this, I am ready.
Your fears are completely unfounded. Read the background and get educated.
People like you will spread Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (FUD) that will impede the best hope America has of righting itself.
I will attend this.
No matter when or where it is.
And I can always hope that I meet some progressive dork or dorkess carrying an insulting sign.
We’ll test a little F=MA.
He is not calling for a Constitutional Convention where the Constitution is up for re-write. He IS calling for states legislatures to submit for approval a bunch of amendments. There would have to be approved as amendments to the existing Constitution, as is the more typical case of amendments initiated by congress.
It is not a constitutional convention (CC). It is a states convention that proposes amendments in accordance with the Constitution to the already existing Constitution. It takes 2/3s of states to propose an amendment. That’s 34 states. Then it takes 3/4s of states to ratify the amendment, that’s 38 states.
There is no risk of states conventions becoming a full blown CC that will run amok.
Mark Levin, he is a master of thought and a real Constitionalist. He is tough of the rotten and gives ideas that should wake America up.
“but his idea scares the crap out of me:
So what do you suggest we do? Stand idly by and watch our Country turned into a Marxist state? At what point do you say, enough? At what point do you stand and fight for your Country against the Marxist? We have gotten to this point, by being complacent and allowed the values that have made our Country great to be eroded over the years by the Marxists. Our founding fathers stood against much great odds than “Low Information voters”. “When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.” Thomas Jefferson
Yes stand idly by
That way i can be vindicated in my recent reprimands of peole here calling the French cowards over whatever it was they weren’t doing ‘right’
The French marched on Paris this past spring in protest of gay marriage. Hundreds of thousands of French filled the main avenue ( champs d’eleysee?)
Seriously, Mark Levin.
Who is more informed or wise than he?
So how does the process get started, and by whom?
You do understand that a Constitutional Convention is not a free-for-all townhall? If it is convened by a state legislature, that legislature determines the delegates, and those delegates determine the Rules of Order, including the agenda.
The fear that such a convention could be “hijacked” is a scare tactic intended to keep people quiet.
There are a few conservative talkers, who actually do more than just talk, thank you Mark Levin...Glenn Beck also, I wish Rush would do something more than talk.
we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honour.
These talkers have sustained there lives, created fortunes, and received honour...time for all of them to pledge to each other and there listeners the same as our founding fathers. Becoming active actually doing something can make a huge difference, even if it means sacrificing their lives, fortunes, and honour.
IMO...
I just ask, though, that people now stop calling the French cowards
We are living off the courage our WW II forefathers exhibited.
The French are now ahead of us in this dept.
Would the leaders of the two political parties ultimately be the ones deciding the amendments and their passage or failure?
John Boehner is the most powerful politician from my state and John Kasich is my Governor. If those two would have any degree of influence in the process, I think I would just as soon pass.
Our laws are not our problem. Our ignorant, lazy, virtue-less, greedy, jealous, entitled, power hungry, covetous people are our problem.
Levin would be correct if there were a sea of good, virtuous people being oppressed by this tyrannical government. The part he misses is that we have consistently voted for this tyrannical government because it is easier than being responsible for ourselves.
For now, I would be very happy with repeal of the 16th and 17th Amendments, and implementation of the Fair Tax.
