WASHINGTON Despite the Republican strategy of passing piecemeal immigration reform, Sen. John McCain predicted today that comprehensive legislation can pass the GOP-controlled House.
I think this fall is very important, McCain said at a forum hosted by AFL-CIO and the Economic Policy Institute.
Lets say we enact it, comprehensive immigration reform I dont think it gains a single Hispanic voter, but what it does, it puts us on a playing field where we can compete for the Hispanic voter, McCain told PBS Gwen Ifill. If we dont do that, frankly, I dont see I see further polarization of the Hispanic voter and the demographics are clear that the Republican Party cannot win a national election. Thats just a fact.
Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., agreed with McCain.

Coming from the moron who sank his own presidential campaign by misplaying his response to the financial crisis.
Hey Juan, with its Conservative base, the GOP cannot win a national election.
All 'Rats "agree" with McCain, with a sly devilish smile and a wink-wink...
I keep hoping someday he’ll get a clue and just GO AWAY.
I absolutely HATE IT when ‘Republicans’ spout the Dem Talking Points as if they are true. Ronald Reagan is turning over in his grave. The Republican Party is feuding because many of those with an ‘R’ by their name in Congress may as well be Democrats.
Stupid fat fingers on phone...
Juan knows squat about winning National elections.
I’ve been around McCain several times. He is crazy. He thinks that whatever he thinks is the way things are. He is delusional and believes his delusions are reality.
Oh shut the hell up and get back under Obama’s McCain desk you pathetic treasonous piece of garbage.
Senility is not pretty
Then they shouldn’t. Without his idea of immigration reform, we have a chance at taking this country back, and instituting a conservative government
McCain is a total idiot.
Of course Repubs will have a difficult time getting re-elected without immigration reform. But he doesn't understand what immigration reform we want: Real border security - FIRST!. Then, and only then, work on only allowing a certain number of people in to this country per year. More than the allotted number come in this year? That many less the next year.
What about people already here? Make them pay a visa tax, give them a green card for 5 years and then boot them out unless they can prove themselves worthy of staying here.
Wow. He has ObamaThink now.
180 degrees from the facts.
“Hey Juan, with its Conservative base, the GOP cannot win a national election.”
Hence why they are going after illegals. We have been cast aside by the GOPe.
If anything, now is the time for a new party and we bring god fearing people back into the fold.
Ok so then we won’t win another election. I want the GOP to implode at this point. I truly don’t care anymore.
I did not save the link, but I saw an analysis not too long ago that demonstrated that if all of the Hispanic immigrants voted repub, the dims still would have won.
We should take advice from winners, not losers.
