This woman was quite fortunate that the armed robbers in Nebraska were not able to keep their ill-gotten gains.

Q: What's the difference between the government and the Mafia?

A: After you pay off the Mafia, they leave you alone. And they don't shoot your dog, your kids or your great-grandfather.

Her money was being held hostage since March of 2012.

Its never a good idea to have too much cash laying around - it could be stolen.

Especially by the Government.

The cops owe her INTEREST on that money during the time they held it.

They also should go to her house and family and APOLOGIZE.

I’m not saying the cops had a right to take the money, but I have trouble believing this money was saved up after 15 years.

Reminds me of the old joke of the hooker that got caught with $330.01.

The cop asks her, who gave you the penny?

She says “all of them”

She is very, very lucky to get her money back. Usually when a citizen is so unfortunate as to fall into the control of bad, corrupt cops... the citizen’s valuables just disappear forever.

(I very much respect and am thankful for good, honest police... the above comment is not about them.)

Some observations:

1. Wow, hand $1,000,000 over to a friend to drive it to NJ. Sounds like Indian names, if so; very trustworthy culture.

2. On most traffic stops, cops should not have dogs with them. Saying no to a search is always an option.

3. The “state” should pay interest to hold the cash.

4. What were the sellers going to do with the cash? Deposits to a bank account risk IRS audit.

Cops in Nebraska must really be honest. I can think of lots of places I’ve been where she never would have been heard from again, the car would have been found torched in the woods someplace, and two cops would have disappeared without a trace to live out their days on a beach in Rio.
