Nearly a hundred top Republican officials sent a letter to the House GOP on Tuesday urging lawmakers to pass a bill that legalizes illegal immigrants, arguing that the current system is already allowing them to stay and so it makes sense to register them and bring them into the system.
The donors, led by former Bush administration Cabinet officials Carlos Gutierrez and Spencer Abraham, also said that immigrants are potential Republican voters who can be won over if the party can be seen as welcoming to immigrants.
Doing nothing is de facto amnesty. We need to take control of whom we let in our country and we need to make sure everybody plays by the same rules, the donors said in their letter.
They aimed their pitch at House Republicans, who are trying to figure out a way forward and find themselves trapped between angry rank-and-file voters who say legalizing illegal immigrants amounts to amnesty, and party elites and donors who say the GOP cannot survive nationally without embracing legalization as part of a strategy to win over Hispanic voters.

Oh, I can agree with you about the action of in-action by the government is “defacto amnesty”. However, I’m vehemently against anyone from the GOPe Regime spouting this tripe as if the inaction was because of conservatives. They only want to keep their power, or they want to appease, but they did not control the forces under the Executive Branch which has the power and responsibility to uphold the law.
This was, is, and always be primarily a new voters plan. There were/are of course, GOPe Regimists who sided with nonenforcement because of greed and some because of pure appeasing gullibility. They are the ones now abetting Obama’s new voters solely because they think they will have a replenishing stable low-IQ work force.
We have Defacto Amnesty now because the current laws on the books are not being enforced one iota. To say we need “new” reform laws is just pure BS. What they are trying to do is negate the real purpose of the existing laws.
So, while not ultimately responsible for the illegals’ invasion, the GOPe Regime certainly did not try to stop the Executive Branch from ignoring the invasion. And they are more than willing to make this an open country so they can get their low-paid workers and golly gee, maybe some [gasp] Hispanic voters and seem ‘nice’ to the media. Nothing but badddddddddddddddd will come from this.
Correct. You can have money, or you can have votes, but you can’t have both.
The Texas homebuilder wasn’t by chance Ray Ellison, was it?
I’d sooner see it totally decimated than have the GOPe Regime drive the conservative base away. If they think they can get enough Mexicans to vote Republican because the GOPe gave up its principles to offset millions of conservatives sitting home, they are smoking some pretty powerful sh!t.
The monied interests, led by the porkulent mercenary Karl Rove, believe that they can get by with just enough foolish Republican voters to allow them to thumb their noses at any and all conservative dissidents.
Considering the average low-information Republican voter, they're probably right.
“The donors, led by former Bush administration Cabinet officials Carlos Gutierrez and Spencer Abraham, also said that immigrants are potential Republican voters who can be won over”
Bullshit.
The corporate donors are running the party now. Its about money and nothing else.
.........wait what?
Just think of everything you buy everyday and it and its finished product....

I am not familiar with Melaleuca, but I have plunked down quite a bit with Overstock over the years. Another one bites the dust.
Not that my purchases amount to “quite a bit” in the big picture, but I will definitely follow my conscience and boycott them.
And “Somebody Else Pays”.
GOP-e bump for later........
It’s because the greedy biz owners are paying these corrupt politicians off...Bankrolling their campaigns to keep that dirt cheap labor coming..
The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.
You're right in that most "legalized" illegals will vote for Democrats no matter how much liberal Republicans pander to them. The Democrats have been playing this game longer and better than the GOP, and neither blacks nor hispanics will forget it.
The trouble is, no matter how many times the GOP betrays conservatives and runs lackluster (or worse) candidates, threats among rightwing voters to defect to a third party never materialize. Every four years, the refrain from the GOP is "where else are you going to go?" or "do you really want the Democrat to win," and conservatives run back to the GOP plantation with their tail between their legs.
Maybe this needs to change. If having a few more liberal democrats as POTUS is what it takes to either get the GOP's act in order or successfully launch a third party, so be it. It isn't as though the last crop of Republicans is much better than their "opponents."

Correct.
Very True...
” The monied interests, led by the porkulent mercenary Karl Rove, “
Rove is buying Republicans every week now.
