According to Elizabeth Greenspan, author of the up coming book Battle for Ground Zero (St. Martins Press), Michael Shulan, creative director of the 9/11 Memorial Museum, thought about cutting the famed photo from Ground Zero of three firefighters raising the American flag amidst the rubble of the World Trade Center because he thought it was too rah-rah America. Shulan said, I really believe that the way America will look best, the way we can really do best, is to not be Americans so vigilantly and so vehemently.
The chief curator of the museum, Jan Ramirez, eventually minimized the photograph in favor of three other camera angles of the scene. Several images undercut the myth of one iconic moment, Ramirez said,

Just reason number 12 to truly, despise them!
There seems to be little doubt that Michael Shulan is an authentic jerk-off!
Anti-American traitors are everywhere, especially on the government payroll.
What was this about?
TIA.
Hey, Shulan- pick another country. Go there. STAY THERE!
Why is it that anti-American turds like this guy are always the ones running everything?
the left equates American pride with “nationalism,” in the most fascist way possible lol The first time I came across this, was while volunteering and putting together a mailer... I inadvertently came back with the Flag forever stamps and was told they couldn’t use them because “some” people found the flag to be offensive. Huh? then she explained, it represents national fervor lol
This guy needs what the NYC cops call a ‘’wooden shampoo’’. That’s one hell of a beating with a nightstick and I’d be happy to administer it.
Shulan, Ramirez.
Neither sound very American so perhaps that is why they might worry about being to “rah-rah America.

This memorial preserves the deeds of Al Qaeda and makes sure the Twin Towers NEVER RISE AGAIN. In addition, everything about the former WTC and the innocent lives is buried underground, most of it in a museum (that charges admission!)
To look down at permanent holes where we used to look up that is the worst thing that could be done at the site.
The United States of America is a lost cause.
This memorial has made Al Qaeda immortal.

I guess since the scumbags’ efforts to make the “iconic photo” politically correct by changing the races of the three firefighters got thwarted, they figure they may as well just minimize the photo.
