**The defendants were reportedly found in a coffee shop near the courthouse on Friday during the hearing, so it is unclear why they werent able to make the scheduled proceedings.**
Six min. video, at the source; I don't blame Mr. McIver for following through.
I thought that in court if the defendents did not show, then the plantiffs won by default. Not in Vermont apparantly.
So theres a Dunkin Donuts by the court house?
That is what I thought also.
Could the judge be covering for bad policing?
This was in small claims court, and I don’t know if things are handled differently. I wouldn’t think so.
Apparantly.
The judge is on the defendant's side. He wants to humiliate the cop.
RTFA. The judge is on the defendant’s side. He wants to humiliate the cop in court. He was looking forward to it.
I believe a perjury charge is in order here.
Prediction: the judge will issue a contempt order next time.
He better get a Kevlar vest for his dog.
We are moving into a police state at warp speed!
Additionally, the $2,000.00 this guy will win hands down on the restitutional damages is a drop in the bucket to the Civil Rights violations this pig has opened his department and the City up for. If I were McIver's lawyer, I'd be suing in a Civil Suit for a minimum of $200K. Minimum.
This rump-clown shoud never be allowed near a badge or gun again. He's proven himself not to have the judgement of a four-year old.
Then, once McIver has soaked this scumbag for every cent he can get, this jerkwad needs his butt stomped to pulp. He needs to be tuned like a freaking Steinway. It's the only language these criminal cowboy's understand.
IMHO.
;-\
>>...and the police officer who ticketed him testified that he ran the red light.<<
Then in the video, the cop told McIver he pulled him over b/c he was *crossing the white line.*
I’d have to watch the vid again, but I didn’t notice that to be the case on 1st look. OK, the cop crossed the white line as many times as McI did.
One thing I know about VT, they are very strict about using your signal, when changing lanes...that has always been the case.

What! And violate the cops' sacred privacy? I guess next you'll want to listen to all their phone calls and read all their texts and e-mails then set up 24/7/365 street surveillance so you'll know where their vehicles are at all times and build a huge computer system somewhere that will automatically collalate all that information. Your calling for a police state. /s
Yeppers.
God!I just hate it when Police Officers abuse their authority. They wonder why the Public disrepects them. This is a Prime example.
The Complainant should have told that Officer Not to lose that video and that he would be seeing him in court.
It seems that the Officer didn’t believe the complainant would take him there since he(The Officer)didn’t show up.
The only way to cure abuses of authority like that is to hit these Officers in the wallet.
It sure seems that way doesn’t it?
Did anyone see Huckabee’s show this weekend, about how we have militarized the police? Some cops have Peacekeepers for crying out loud! (That’s a tank like we use in Afghanistan). Why in hell does any police department need a main battle tank to protect and serve?
The guest made a very important point: We pay their salaries, and any public servant should bear that foremost in mind in every interaction they have with the public (their bosses).
