Glenn Greenwald: Low-Level NSA Analysts Have ‘Powerful and Invasive’ Search Tool
ABC News ^ | Jul 28, 2013 | Kari Rea

Today on “This Week,” Glenn Greenwald – the reporter who broke the story about the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs – claimed that those NSA programs allowed even low-level analysts to search the private emails and phone calls of Americans.

“The NSA has trillions of telephone calls and emails in their databases that they’ve collected over the last several years,” Greenwald told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos. “And what these programs are, are very simple screens, like the ones that supermarket clerks or shipping and receiving clerks use, where all an analyst has to do is enter an email address or an IP address, and it does two things. It searches that database and lets them listen to the calls or read the emails of everything that the NSA has stored, or look at the browsing histories or Google search terms that you’ve entered, and it also alerts them to any further activity that people connected to that email address or that IP address do in the future.”

Am not surprised and this is getting much worse fast.

Does Congress have their head up their posterior, or are they simply complicit?

It is a TIME for the Truth.

I’m not surprised, because the government LIES and then denies lying.

Yes, it is obvious.

We expect it from Obozo, but surely some in congress cannot be bought, bribed, blackmailed or threatened into subjection.

I am afraid a “reset” will require a catastrophe before anyone considers it necessary.

I am still unsure about Snowden.

I would like to think he is one of the good guys, but on the other hand he voted for Obozo. No one who voted for “the Won” can be considered intelligent.

So am I. However, I believe we are seeing the beginning of the inevitable catastrophe right now. The sooner we accept and address the problem the sooner and easier it will be to fix it. The war WILL be forced upon us

“some in congress cannot be bought, bribed, blackmailed or threatened into subjection.”

I can’t believe that you sincerely believe this statement. There are conditions that any normal human being will collapse under.

There seems to be no major outrage from our elected officials nor from the general public.

Michelle Bachman voted to protect the NSA. How did they get to her?

They never had to “get to her”

She is a fraud, phony and fake and not very bright. Of course people like her, Peter King, Bohener, Pelosi, Obama would be on the same side of this

When’s the last time a congressman or senator had a hissy fit over constitutionality. I mean, really go on a fist-pounding rampage across the country and on the media protesting the violation of constitutional rights?

I can remember that back in the 60s but not since.

Our elected officials are all bought and paid for, none are willing to put their careers and reputations on the line over this.

Yeah, it’s concerning. Have you seen the latest stuff coming out about her campaign. I’m sure the NSA has a treasure trove of stuff on her people. I’d be willing to speculate there is tons of blackmail going on.

There are more horrible things that can happen to a man than Death. The older I get, the more I realize that is so.

I have know honest POLs. Admittedly few.

And the same with the military. That devotion is a lot more common there than in the sphere of POLs.

We must bear in mind that no human is ultimately in control of these events we watch.

Obozo lies 24/7. And his actions indicate that he serves the father of lies.

Guess we shall see how this plays out soon.

Congress is in favor of tapping phone lines to acquire insider information. They can insider trade legally and listen in on any communication they want.

Add to that companies like Google that can data mine their competition and steal competing technology.

Hugely corrupt and out of control.
