MADRID Authorities in Spain opened a formal investigation into the train conductor in the deadly train crash that killed at least 78 in northwestern Spain Thursday after the train jumped the tracks on a curvy stretch just before arriving in the northwestern shrine city of Santiago de Compostela.
Reuters reported that the conductor was not immediately identified but cited local newspapers that reported driver Francisco Jose Garzon assisted in helping the victims and yelled, Ive derailed! What do I do? during a phone call.
There were two drivers. One was trapped in his cabin and radioed that the train entered the bend at 120 mph, Reuters reported.

That will do it.
Going 120mph in a 80mph turn? Both drivers should be hanged.
Driver #1: “ i was not in control at that time. Driver #2 was and was sexting with Anthony Weiner at the time.
It’s very odd. The train could run on both high speed tracks and regular tracks, and had a separate safety device for each system. The driver would have had to have selected the system, which for that part of track, actually would have been the high speed system because the whole track is being prepared for the AVE, which runs only high-speed.
They entered at about 120 mph. However, that part of the track was set for 80 km per hour (about 50 mph) and the driver had been doing the route for about a year and had 30 years altogether with the train company. Also, one of the analysts said that the curve isn’t that severe and while 190 kmh wasn’t advisable, it shouldn’t have made the train derail.
Very strange. They haven’t read the black box yet. However, the judge is charging the driver (who is in the hospital), possibly just to keep him there.
Has the KTVU station in Oakland announced the driver’s name yet?
Are you thinking what I’m thinking?
I felt the same way about the crash in Quebec - made no sense at all that a parked train just all of a sudden starts moving (no security either). Such ample opportunities for real live saboteurs. Are these trains capable of being hacked like automobile computer systems?
Any Catholic Freeper would LOVE the pilgrim Church here and you can YouTube what they do with the incense burner that;s 5ft tall.....it’s UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

Here’s a link to the Youtube video by itself so you can avoid the dreadful commercials on Fox News (that CANNOT be turned off, skipped or muted):

Was his name Abdul?
This news report must come either from a British source or one that uses British English. In England, a locomotive operator is known as a train driver; in America, he’s an engineer.
Dreadful. RIP.
Can’t help but look at that train video and think of Amerika coming around the spending curve. That is what’s going to happen economically.
Thanks Kaslin.
