But a lot are on record now.

Can’t walk away from that. They just said they don’t care about the 4th amendment.

The NSA has damaging information on many politicians. It will take a revolution to dislodge them now.

Told ya. There isn’t a chance in hades of NSA data gathering being defunded. The gop wing of the uniparty loves the police state aspects of this data gathering while the ‘rat wing loves the blackmail aspects.

Just more kabuki theater.

So being unconstitutional does not mean anything if its a law they want. But if the voters put a law in that they don’t like then its important.

Uh, we do not have the rule of law, we have dictators.

I am a little disappointed in the vote but think we don’t have all of the information available to our Reps. This bill was rather a blunt instrument and perhaps that is why it did not prevail. That said, there is much wrong with the program, at least as much as we know about it. Also, funded or not, that does not mean it will pass Constitutional muster.

The terrorists have won.

Our phone calls recorded.
Our emails recorded.
Long lines at airports.
Everybody, even the old and handicapped must remove shoes.
Bloated bureaucracy to fight terrorism costing Billions.

You can’t stop terrorism in spite of all of above.
Example: Boston Marathon bombing.

Most effective way to stop terrorism: Annihilate the leadership in country of origin, such as destruction of Taliban in Afghanistan where the terrorism of 911 was initiated, and supported. But we have no Dubya in office, we have Zero in White House.

Here’s the amendment that DID PASS:

“SEC. XX. None of funds made available by this Act may be used by the National Security Agency to—
(1) conduct an acquisition pursuant to section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 for the purpose of targeting a United States person; or
(2) acquire, monitor, or store the contents (as such term is defined in section 2510(8) of title 18, United States Code) of any electronic communication of a United States person from a provider of electronic communication services to the public pursuant to section 501 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978.”
It passed with just 12 Dems voting against it.

Here’s Amash’s for comparison:
“Sec. XX. None of the funds made available by this Act may be used to execute a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court order pursuant to section 501 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (50 U.S.C. 1861) that does not include the following sentence: `This Order limits the collection of any tangible things (including telephone numbers dialed, telephone numbers of incoming calls, and the duration of calls) that may be authorized to be collected pursuant to this Order to those tangible things that pertain to a person who is the subject of an investigation described in section 501 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (50 U.S.C. 1861).’.”

Not an expert but it sounds like what passed is already in the law as it does not affect ‘metadata’. Content, I believe, is not collectable already.
