But before it ever gets done Obama will cut the budget and Scotty will be going nuts with repairs.

If it is faster than light, how can they keep up with it to build it....

Can’t NASA complete the prior mission before going off and spending money on a new one?
I want to know how the current project is going... the one that is in search for extra-terrestrial 72-virgin life?

scientific advancement is linear is small steps... we can’t just jump to warp technology with out discoveries in between.
imagine going back to the stone ages and trying to build a radio.

are trying to prove that it is possible to travel faster than the speed of light, Without any shred of evidence that it's possible to do so, they're going to "try to prove" something by building something??

That’s a really stupid headline. The very basic research they are doing is not even close to any application. What they are doing is building a device to research how to alter the trajectory of photons in certain ways. All the other hype is based on the implications of the concepts involved if taken to the nth degree.
I really hate irresponsible media hype.

Well the skunk works is usually 30-50 years ahead of what is publically released....
We probably already have these...

Given the way government works and what we learned about the NSA.... the people who have been saying we have moon bases are probably wrong, we probably have bases on mars and alpha centari too.....

And I’m not sure why they do it. At best it’ll make some people interested in science. At worst it’ll bring out the ‘aww hell, those nasa boys are wasting our money again’ types.

Good point. I wonder if NASA’s primary responsibility, muzlim outreach, influenced this innovative thinking
