Jim, saw you and another Freeper had credit card theft. Decided to tell you about mine since it is political.

Had a card I wasn't using so decided to use it during the last primary season on the website of MY candidate - Newt Gingrich - ordered a Newt cup and Newt car sticker.

One day, got a call from the card company. Someone had stolen the number and used it in London and Ireland for thousands of dollars of “stuff”. Said I hadn't been in either place, so they canceled those purchases and sent me a new card. She also checked the purchase made before the false ones and asked me if I bought a Newt cup and Newt car sticker. Said, yes, I did.

Someone connected to the Newt website or in the chain of making that purchase, stole that number and the code number, too, in order to make those overseas purchases.

I was glad I wasn't using that card for any automatic payments. I didn't yell at Newt's people.

I guess the moral of the story is, don't trust a politician.

Right now, I am zonked on strong pain pills due to a dead tooth. Since I am out of my mind on pills, I'll go to PayPal and send $10 as an additional amount to my paltry monthly donation. Sometime soon, I'll raise that monthly amount.

I should come to this thread often, which I don't, to look at the graphics as they are exceptional just as each one of you is exceptional. Will go to PayPal now while I'm still out of my mind. :o)

Have you tried a credit protection service like Lifelock? This is what my husband suggested and I'll have to look into it -- seems like everyone I talk to about this knows someone this has happened to. My sister joined Lifelock and darned if she didn't get a call within two weeks that someone was trying to open a credit card in HER name!! Will check it out. Fortunately, the bank refunded my money -- $1,400 is a lot of clams!! Thanks to all. Bon
