A south Houston woman said she was only protecting herself when she fatally shot a man at a service station.
"I didn't intend to hurt or harm anyone. I just went to the gas station to get gas," Shanequia McDonald said on Tuesday.
McDonald told Houston police she shot Lewis Daniel shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday at a Gulf station in the 6800 block of Cullen, between Griggs and the South Loop. The case will go to the Harris County grand jury to decide if any charges will be filed.
On Tuesday, McDonald was at the side of community activist Quanell X.
"She tried to walk away. What else was she supposed to do?" Quanell asked.
McDonald said she was pumping gas when Daniel, 58, approached her and began making sexual overtures.
"He's from around this area but personally, no, I don't know him," she said Tuesday.

This week... ?
The hypocrisy and racism is easier to see.
This week it's black-on-black, we care, but no one in the MSM or race-baiting industry does.
Good shoot but the hypocrisy is deafening.
A man stupid enough to mess with a Negro woman with a gun is too stupid to live.
I bet if Obama had a son, he would look just like Lewis Daniel.
“If I had a son, he’d look like Trayvon,” Obama said, underscoring how the issue affected him on a personal, and not just a political or legal, level. ~ Obama 22 Mar 2012
“A man stupid enough to mess with a Negro woman with a gun is too stupid to live.”
I guess I would amend that to say that a man stupid enough to mess with ANY woman with a gun is too stupid to live. Like they say in Kentucky, “If she has a gun, the answer is yes.” (stolen from “Backyard Oil”).
Thats exactly what the law is for.
This "activist" is not helping this woman in any way. The woman may or may not have had a legitimate reason to kill Daniels. The police will investigate and make that determination. But this activist who is "helping" her is not doing her any favors by bringing Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman into the mix and claiming that this is somehow different. The only difference is that Zimmerman is an honorary white and this woman is black, which is the only difference that matters to these activists.
She could have gotten in her car and driven off. Instead, she pops the trunk and takes out a gun.
Oh, notice she shot several times.
Zimmerman shot ONCE. Didn’t hear it pointed out at trial, but if someone is angry and trying to kill with malice, they empty the clip.
This kind of case is exactly what the law is for.
Shanequia McDonald - naming a baby Shanequia, Shamikwa, or any of the other spelling choices seems like it gives them a social handicap right from the go. Finding nickname would be a priority, I’d think.
I guess I would amend that to say that a man stupid enough to mess with ANY woman with a gun is too stupid to live.
Thanks, catnipman. You beat me to it.
Shanequia McDonald? Those Irish McDonald’s are hot temper folk.
Fear empties clips real fast.
If one is having a heated argument and the other person takes out a gun....it’s time to fold up and exit...stage left. If one sticks around and assaults the gun bearer it is time to die....”Stupid is what stupid does”-Forest Gump-
The neo-black panthers involvement makes my hackles rise but unlike liberals/NBP I believe in self defense regardless of skin color.
Whenever I see or hear spots by the AD Council, I know I am in for a liberal life lesson. One on the radio has a female voice ridiculing such names and then the holier-than-thou lib chastises the first voice. If I had to rank, the ultimate Ad Council spot is the druggie white guy sitting on the floor of a black guy’s house and then the home owner tells the druggie that “I am blocking youâ from entering the home. The imagery is astounding. Imagine a suburban white family blocking rappers or so-called ill-mannered celebs? Think the Ad Council would offer such a belief? The naive land of liberals.
