The hearing will address education, unemployment incarceration and other challenges.
Young, African-American men are disproportionately more likely to be incarcerated. Their unemployment rate for June was 13 percent. A study by the Schott Foundation for Public Education found that just 52 percent graduated from high school in 2009-10.
Black lawmakers on Capitol Hill in March established the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys to raise awareness about issues like these that disproportionately affect this demographic. On July 24, the group will hold its first hearing, titled "The Status of Black Males: Ensuring Our Boys Mature Into Strong Men."
The timing of the hearing, a little more than a week after the George Zimmerman verdict, is coincidental, said D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, a co-chair of the caucus, but the inaugural effort to get the nation to address the challenges facing African-American males is "right on time."
Pointing to barriers to success, such as the likelihood of being racially profiled, having little or no access to quality health care or to have suffered from gun violence, Rep. Danny Davis called for the end of these and other disparities.
"We know that our nation cannot be true to its values, indeed cannot sustain itself, divided by such persistent inequalities," said the Illinois congressman and caucus co-chair......

Blame Whitey. Now move along.

It sounds as though these so called "lawmakers" believe that we should set a percentage of criminals to incarcerate according to skin tone. These people have "issues". They aren't right in the head.
Up to reading that I was hopeful this just might be a good start to addressing these serious issues in the black community. The primary barrier to success is the welfare state has destroyed the black family, and substituted a government for a father. Based on Rep Davis' concerns it sounds like the caucus will simply demand a further expansion of the government plantation for blacks.
Beat me to it. 1) Decide that whatever is wrong, it’s whitey’s fault. 2) Vote for white DemocRats.
TOTAL WASTE of TAX PAYER MONEY and TIME.
Perhaps they should do a study on the differences and outcomes between native blacks and immigrants from Africa.
“Pointing to barriers to success, such as the likelihood of being racially profiled, having little or no access to quality health care or to have suffered from gun violence, Rep. Danny Davis called for the end of these and other disparities.”
Perhaps, their fathers should marry their mothers.
I have several friends originally from Nigeria....they cannot stand American blacks, they can’t believe the opportunities they squandered just by being born in this country.
“Young, African-American men are disproportionately more likely to be incarcerated. Their unemployment rate for June was 13 percent.”
A) Blacks commit more crimes.
B) Less educated people or felons are less likely to be employed.
I am going to go out on a limb here:
All of them are still Black. And except for maybe Fredrick in San Francisco, who now goes by Frejiqua, they are all still male.
I’ll save everyone’s time and cut to the chase: It’s all my fault.
“We know that our nation cannot be true to its values, indeed cannot sustain itself, divided by such persistent inequalities,”

He is worried about division so they have a caucus that divides by wanting to help only blacks.
They are divisive.
Yep
Problem solved.
Sort of a reverse affirmative action for crime?
To be honest in Jamaica (not Kingston though) I felt very comfortable amongst the locals.
This is the chaotic new social dis-order,
void of personal safety,
common decency, and civilized behavior
that the multi-cultists have forced upon us,
and until America wakes up out of its blind obedience to Political Correctness
and recognizes this behavior for what it is, and admit that it is a serious problem,
violent crimes like these will only get worse....much worse.
