Press Release
WASHINGTON Congressman Steve Stockman filed a discharge petition last week to force a vote of the U.S. House on establishing a Select Committee to investigate the Sept. 11, 2012 killings of four Americans at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya by a mob of terrorists.
Stockman will formally announce the discharge petition at a noon Tuesday press conference on the House Ceremonial Stairway. There, the largest petition ever presented to Congress, containing the signatures of 1,000 Special Operations veterans demanding a House Select Committee to investigate the Benghazi Terrorist Massacre, will be unrolled on the steps.
The dramatic unrolling of the 60-foot long petition/scroll down the House Ceremonial Stairway will be the opening volley in a nationwide campaign urging House members to sign the Discharge Petition forcing House consideration of HR 36 the bill to establish a Select Committee to fully investigate the Benghazi Massacre.
WHEN: The event will begin promptly at 12:00 noon on July 23, 2013.
WHERE: The House Ceremonial Stairway on the House side of the U.S. Capitol Building.
WHO: Scheduled speakers at this point in time include the following:
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) Former Rep./Lt. Col. Allen West (Ret.) SOS Co-Founder Colonel Dick Brauer Jr. USAF, (Ret) SOS Co-Founder Larry Bailey, CAPT (SEAL), USN (Ret.)
HOW: The Discharge Petition ScrollOut Event will be set-up so as to allow maximum opportunity for news media photo-ops, video, and audio coverage. The 60-foot record-setting scroll/petition will be set up directly in front of the podium before being unrolled all the way down the stairs and across the sidewalk doing the event.
Large graphics featuring both H. Res 36 and the Discharge Petition will be to either side of the podium. A banner featuring the photos of the Americans slain during the Benghazi Terrorist Massacre will be directly behind and above the podium.
Copies of all speeches will be made available to the press. And the press conference will be opened for questions immediately following the unrolling of the scroll/petition, which will be accompanied by an Honor Guard playing taps in honor of the fallen Americans.
Whoa...those poontons are Fluck-size.

A Select Committee! What a great idea! We’ll never hear about this Ben Ghazi guy until well into 2015!
Good going, guys. Well played.
I like the Hillary sign. :)

Other suggestions?
Special Prosecutor with Subpoena powers, as a matter of fact. Thanks for asking, I can't believe it took all day for someone to see my post.
Not being versed in comparing political/Congressional methods, I sincerely don’t know the best way to legally attack this. Could you explain in simple language why a Special Prosecutor is better than the Select Commitee? Does a S.C. have Subpoena powers?
Too bad FR doesn’t have the views per thread function it used to have, maybe not a lot of people have seen this thread. So much horrible news.
Well, the thumbnail is this:
A Select Committee will be a subset of the House. This means there will be a whole drawn-out partisan battle over who gets on it, just to start. This will take months. Votes. Then, the committee will decide from whom they will take testimony. There will be arguments on every single witness, with court battles. And votes. All of this in secret, by the way. Eventually we will get to the part we get to see on CSPAN. And nobody will watch.
A good Special Prosecutor would not be like Ken Starr. That was poorly done. A proper Special Prosecutor would actually track down the worst crime, and not be drawn up tiny tributaries. What happened here? Who knew? When? Then what did they do?
We have a carpload of questions here.
We’re 9-10 months down the road by now.
America demands Justice for the Fallen of Benghazi! |
I wonder why Stockman went for the Select Committee, then. It sounds terrible.
All too true.
But, at the same time, it's the only investigative weapon we've got.
The DOJ isn't going to investigate anybody but conservatives.
The media doesn't want to know what really happened. So they're useless, as well.
It's a congressional committee or nothing.

If I’m not mistaken, a special prosecutor has to be appointed by the Attorney General. No one trusts Holder, he’s already in contempt of Congress.
The select committee is the only other alternative to the status quo.
This is a quick take on it...

It would appear the Independent Counsel has been usurped by Justice. Well, then, we may as well give it up because this, and all the rest of the Obastard crimes, will never be investigated. It will be too late to affect anything by the time a Select Committee ever gets a report out.
He pulled it off.
Holder nixed it, the worm.
Yes, and surprisingly it stops right there. Congress has officially washed its hands here. There will be no Committee. Ever.
