Since Canadian born Ted Cruz has emerged on the scene in Washington as a future presidential candidate for 2016, attention has turned to whether he is Constitutionally eligible for Article 2 Section 1, the presidential qualification clause. This is what we know. Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Many say that disqualifies him to be eligible for the presidency. Enter former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm. She was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. I came across an interview she did with Fox News's Chris Wallace in February of 2010. During the interview Wallace brought up the fact that since she was born in Canada, she wasn't eligible to be president. Here is the transcript:

"GRANHOLM: No, Im totally focused this year on creating every single job I can until the last moment. December 31st at midnight is when Ill stop. So I have no idea what Im going to do next, but Im not going to run for president. I can tell you that.
WALLACE: Yes, thats true. We should point out Governor Granholm is a Canadian and cannot run for president.
GRANHOLM: Im American. Ive got dual citizenship.
With that said, I went to the biography of Jennifer Granholm and found that she was born to one American citizen and is indeed a dual Citizen who became 'NATURALIZED' as a U.S. Citizen in 1980 at the age of 21. Now this raises a question. How can a naturalized U.S. Citizen become president of the United States?
Continued below.
“The Constitution is CLEAR. Article 2 Section 1 states you have to be a natural born Citizen to be eligible to be president. Cruz has not proven that he is one....”

Well, I guess we can look forward to at least 3 1/2 years of you waging war in this forum on Ted Cruz, one of the few true conservatives we have in the Republican party (or any party for that matter).
Doesn't matter dontyaknow - there are those who will do everything they can to use their "principles" to ensure our best hopes are trashed and ensure that the Left stays in power - they really really need something to bitch about so they manufacture the scenarios much as the Blacks keep condoning their own bad behavior so they can carp when they pay the price...
In this case, that is not correct. The Constitution requires that a presidential candidate be a Natural Born Citizen (not just a citizen). For Congress to change that requires a Constitutional Amendment. It has not been amended.
Of Course those in Congress who have assumed the position of “our betters” have decided that they need no longer abide by the rule of law.

LOL! That wasn't wild & crazy compared to some.
I'm reserving judgment on this 'announcement' by Cruz at this time. First because it wasn't official and second because, as much as so many people wish to think US law trumps all law everywhere, that it certainly not the case.
What does Cuba or Canadian law say? What nationality has been claimed for him by his parents and what did he claim upon reaching his age of majority?
(What really boggles my mind is people making the case for natural born-ness by erasing the existence of one of the parents.)

Honestly, I just have a gut feeling this is a maneuver by Cruz. He's stretching the definition even further than the rats' claim O was born in Hawaii to a foreign national and an American girl to being born with the same circumstances outside the country.
He's wicked smart, and a proven advocate of Original Intent, so he gets the benefit of the doubt for now from me.
It wouldn't surprise me in the least if he just used the awkward situation as a means to see just how far they could push their logic until it snapped back in their faces.
Hopefully, this winds up being nothing more than 'prog-bait'.
Little Jeremiah, I’m not insane, but you must be an ass. There are clearly people here who would torpedo any candidate with an Hispanic Surname. This crap started with Rubio, long before he shot himself in the foot over immigration “reform” and its continuing with Cruz.
If they aren’t racists, they are trolls trying to undermine a very credible conservative candidate over an obscure legal technicality that hasn’t blocked Obama or McCain.
Am I supposed to laugh at this? Do you think that because I use “ZULU” I’m black? Maybe you are a racist.
Boy, my name really annoys you, doesn.t it?
What Klavern do you belong to? I think your sheets are ready.
I’m a white guy, smartass.
Certificates of Citizenship may be requeseted by individuals who were born abroad but are U.S. citizens at birth through their parents, or who became citizens after birth but before the age of 18. A parent or guardian may also request a Certificate of Citizenship on behalf of a minor child.
Certificates of Citizenship are not issued for persons who became a U.S. citizen based on birth in the United States.
A person born abroad who acquires U.S. citizenship at birth is not required to file an Application for Certificate of Citizenship.
An application for Certificate of Citizenship is NOT a request to become a U.S. citizen, it is ONLY a request to obtain a Certificate of Citizenship which recognizes that you became a citizen on a particular date.
An application for Certificate of Citizenship can be made at any time.

” if a legal immigrant father makes a person eligible for POTUSA than the two sons of deposed Egyptian Muslim President Morsi are also eligible for POTUSA who were born in the USA”
Did you even read my post?
I said Cruz’ mother was born in USA.What part of that do you not get?
and now that we have accepted 0dumbo, like it or not the precedent has been set. It is settled.
“...precedent has been set. It is settled.”
Precedent is not set any more than a bank robber at large “settles” bank robbery.
Really?
So you think if Cruz runs the Dems could or would get a legal challenge further than anyone did with 0dumbo?
Your analogy doesn’t fit this situation at all btw
Granholm's father was a Canadian national. Cruz's father was born in Cuba, but a naturalized U.S. Citizen. Big difference.
Then, there was Zer0's father.
Cruz is a naturalized citizen and not eligible.
The analogy is accurate. That criminal is unpunished does not legitimate the crime.
Do all the dismissals on the challenges to Zer0's natural born qualifications give you a clue?
Cruz has a far better claim as both of his parents were U.S. Citizens: a natural born mother and a naturalized father.
Cruz’s father naturalized in 2005
I asked about a Certificate of NATURALIZATION for Senator Cruz, not a Certificate of Citizenship.
What is a Certificate of U.S. Naturalization: The Certificate of Naturalization (form N-550 or N-570) is a document issued by United States government as proof of a person having obtained U.S. citizenship through naturalization (a legal process of obtaining a new nationality). Only naturalized United States citizens can obtain a copy of their Certificates of Naturalization. If you are not a United States citizen, you must first apply for United States citizenship.
The Certificate of United States Naturalization has been issued since October 1, 1991 by the USCIS, and on or before September 30, 1991 by Federal Courts and particular State Courts. The United States Certificate of Naturalization is proof of an individuals U.S. citizenship through naturalization.
Ted Cruz was born “Rafael Edward Cruz” December 22, 1970 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
His mother is US citizen Eleanor Darragh.
His father is Cuban citizen Rafael B. Cruz. (naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 2005)
Eleanor Darragh and Rafael B. Cruz were residents of Canada for at least four years from 1970, possibly earlier, until 1974. They conducted business there as Rafael B. Cruz and Associates, Ltd.
Cruz is a naturalized US citizen (8 U.S.C. § 1401(g))

You are entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts.
Like it or not
Cruz, by virtue of being born to a native born mother, IS a natural born citizen.
Can you offer definitive proof he is not?
All laws and policies support his being a natural born citizen.
It is not that I don’t understand why you think that it is that reality now is not on your side.
I have presented fact and sources. I have presented law.
You offer opinion.
A person born abroad who has derived U.S. citizenship through their parents does not require a Certificate of naturalization. If proof of citizenship is required a Certificate of Citizenship can be applied for.
