Obama has betrayed 12 years of our armed forces' blood and sacrifice so he can hand over Afghanistan to the Taliban which ruled there before the 9//11 attacks.

Pray for our troops and their families. And pray for a country that would do such a thing to them.

And why wouldn’t they do this. They know the game is over after this in any case. If Obama had honor, he’d call off any more fighting now, before he puts our troops in senseless danger.

The Biblical phrase, “Delivered in the hands of the enemy”, really has been resonating for the last several years.

Obama's Vietnam?

I don't think so. The Commies, for the most part, had the sense to wait until U.S. troops had gone home lest they provoke a backlash.

The Islamonazis want to kill as many of us as possible before we withdraw and fear no backlash from this sorry excuse of a president.

While the US troops will be at greater risk, they will also have great opportunity. I am glad that the madrassas’ are emptying and that AQ and its affiliates are encouraging every fanatic to converge on AFG. Why, you ask? Because killing them there is and always will be easier and preferable to them living and eventually coming to our and other western nations’ shores.

Just as in IRQ, we will respond with great precision and lethality as masses (albeit not in the sense of WWII or Korea masses) of enemy make themselves available to our targeting and weapon systems. Hoorah!

All this said, I know there will cost, cost of blood and futures of more of our young treasures. That makes me sad.

But a sadder day would be when these (otherwise terminal) criminals would be found on our shores, in our towns and in our streets, with vile intent; hiding behind our sacred liberties.

So, yes; kill them there.

Then leave, with eyes on; and isolate AFG for the social, moral, political and religious crap hole it is and always will be as long as the rule of representative law is absent.

This regional example should make us all think hard about our involvement in our own political process; the rule of man vice law is becoming more and more apparent as we can readily see in the news most everyday. We should never become a nation of political conformists; rather we must always stand for individual and thereby collective liberties.

Afghanistan has seen Soviets come and go... who would/could have thunk that the US would come, but then go more like the Soviets did?

Once Obama told his muslim pals the date of our impending and surrender and departure any further loss of American lives became a travesty.

It is a sad thing to say, but this generation of brave men and women will have to learn to live with the dark cloud of betrayal by our government, much as our veterans from the Vietnam era do.

But in this case it might even be worse because we have an absolute traitor as Commander In Chief - a man who has come out of the closet and is clearly supporting the advance of the militant muslims while he engineers the weakening and decline of our country.

May God save us all because our own leaders are now the true enemy of America.

I doubt we'd ever "win" there, no matter who runs the war.

We'll leave, for whatever reason, and they'll go back to the way they've been living for the last thousand years.

Pray for our warrior heroes who have been given ROE-shackles to fight a war.

The father of my grandchildren was deployed to Afghanistan on 05JUL2013 for a year.

Afghanistan is Obama's Vietnam?

Let's go back to 1975, when Saigon fell. Gerald Ford was president. Should Ford be blamed for losing Vietnam? After all, there was talk at the time of using massive B52 strikes to slow down the NVA advance.

But Ford declined. The Congress and the country just didn't have the stomach for it. And Saigon fell.

So did Ford lose Vietnam? Most folks would say no. The blame goes to LBJ. It was LBJ who made the lion's share of bad decisions that led to that disaster.

The same goes with Afghanistan. Obama will probably preside over the fall of Kabul. Or it might happen under is successor.

Either way, the LBJ equivalent for Afghanistan is not Obama. It's Bush. And that's a hard thing to say.

In a surprise move, redouble our forces and block the escape routes to Pakistan. We can undo Bush’s failure at Tora Bora.

Perhaps someone can write a song called Tora Bora Ding Dong a Whack Bam Boom.

“in what will likely be the final fighting season,,,”

So much wrong, in one statement. Starting with fighting should happen when, where, and how WE decide. We are murdering our soldiers with incompetent leaders.

I said from the start that we should have sealed that eastern Afgany border. It’s always been a source of non-help from the genius Pakis. A few thousand claymore mines and some hilltop sharp shooters would have been a good start. Wouldn’t have taken that much and it would have kept a lot of cheap shot fighting out of Afganland. Failure to do that always meant to me that we weren’t really in-to-win.

Not wasted. Our troops killed the enemy and the cleaned up the world a bit. They also demonstrated kindness to some of the oppressed locals. That all counts. The destruction of a single Islamist or leftist can potentially save the lives of dozens of innocents.

Anyone who thought they were "defending freedom" is an idiot. The election and reelection of Obama proves that American residents are too retarded for freedom.

The war in Afghanistan is ending the only way it was ever going to: with the nation reverting back to tribal warfare, chaos and ethnic conflict.

The fault here is with those who thought that "nation-building" in such a hellhole was ever going to work.

The local Pashtu will fight us forever because its where they live and there's nothing else to do. Are US troops supposed to stick around and die for another 12 years? 100 years? Because that's how long the Talibs will fight. How many US troops are you willing to lose for the sake of whatever it is you think we're fighting for at this point?
