Larry Elder: Zimmerman case should have never been filed
YouTube ^ | July 16, 2013 | Uploaded by elderados

This is a clip of Larry Elder talking about the Zimmerman case. This was taped while the prosecution was giving their closing argument - before the verdict was rendered.

He begins by talking about his experience when he worked as a clerk during the summer for the LA County DA's office. He describes how difficult it was for detectives to convince prosecutors to file a case.

Larry then talks about recently contacting a now retired friend who had worked in the LA County DA's office for 30 years. Larry asked him about the case.

His friend said, "Larry, we wouldn't have filed it. I don't know a DA who would have filed it. It's a reasonable doubt case. You can't file a case ethically unless you feel that you have a chance of winning it."

Larry then goes on to say that but for the politicians, rabble-rousers, and media, we wouldn't even be talking about this now.

But how would he have responded if the pressure of the entire Department of Just-Us was on him?

Of course it should never have been filed. The Sanford police and DA knew this. The only evidence made it clear that George Zimmerman defended himself against a brutal attack by Trayvon Martin.

The State AG knew this as well, except that office willfully ignored it, tried to cover it up and keep it from judges, and proceeded on a purely political prosecution...which was illegal and violated Geroge Zimmerman's rights.

But, for the race baiters, the left, the DNC, the Holder Department of Gestapo...the truth and what is right has nothing at all to do with it, and it never has. They are fixated on their agenda and anything they think will advance that agenda is the "truth," in their minds and will be advanced come hell or high water, no matter how outrageous or outlandish, no matter how patently false, regardless of the cost.

And they continue to do so.

They wanted a show trial... that's why it was filed.

Larry deals with that in the following paragraph.

I hope conservatives remember this when Scott and Bondi are up for re-election. They should be voted out without even thinking about who will take their places.

The obvious comeback to Martin’s mother’s claim that the case never would have happened had Martin been white - we certainly would have never heard about it, because it never would have been filed as a crime......

Just saw where Larry Elder is getting the typical ‘treatment’ from the loving and kind black community!
These people are unhinged.

Wrong. I’ve always been unimpressed with Elder.

However, as a former Prosecutor, we all know that it is VERY different from filing a case to thinking you may get a conviction. Sometimes, you are obligated to file even knowing that you may not get “beyond a reasonable doubt”.

I agree with the filing in the Zimmerman case as well as the verdict. Perhaps you need to be a lawyer to get it. Larry elder is just another know nothing shock jock.

I honestly can not fathom the mentality that would find need to bankrupt families with the massive burden of a felony case without the least bit of evidence to support any other conclusion.

I very strongly support sanctions and personal civil liability for proprietorial misconduct, most especially in filing cases against people without reasonable evidence to support an alternate conclusion. All civil servants should be held accountable for the damage they cause.

...and THAT my FRiend, is another reason why ordinary, Joe Blow, taxpaying, law abiding citizens like myself think that politicians and lawyers are ALL SCUM!!!

Did you prosecute people who, when the evidence was examined, were guilty of nothing, and your political masters told you to prosecute ‘em anyway? Did you tell half truths (ie, lies) on charging affidavits? That is what happened to GZ. And if you did, sir, you are lower than the Marianas Trench.

If you did not, sir, why do you support filing charges?
