Yes, the incident happened in 2008. Apparently the cab company illegally recorded the phone call and sent it to press. If she had just requested a female driver she probably would have been fine. I haven’t been in a cab in a long time but in the past I’ve only had a woman driver once that I recall.
The fact of the matter is Islamic culture is extremely misogynistic and primitive therefore men from that culture are markedly more likely to rape. All over Europe this is problem with muslim immigrants. Everyone knows it but left refuses to admit it.
I would feel real bad for any innocent cabby denied a fare just cause he was a Pakistani but since the taxi companies and police in the UK aren’t doing enough to stop this it’s a perfectly understandable precaution by a parent.

You’re right; those groups don’t even exist in the Muslim world. The hatred those groups have for the Church of Christ outweighs the fear they have of Islam.
