On Huffington Post Live today, Rachel Jeantel expounded on her thoughts on what occurred when Zimmerman and Martin met face to face. "I believe Trayvon hit first," she said. She went on to describe how she believed that Trayvon throwing the first punch was likely caused by Zimmerman attempting to grab and detain Martin. (via Huff Post)

Nah, her statement, sadly, will be irrelevant. Those who have looked at the facts analytically have already surmised that Trayvon likely hit first, and those yelling and screaming about racism and injustice won't let facts get in the way of their irrational arguments.

Does she use the word “hit” the way the rest of the english-speaking world uses it?
was he “hit on” or did he “hit on” Zimmerman, and began punching Zimmerman because he rebuffed Trayvon’s gay advances?

Of course, the medical reports and the autopsy reports indicate that Trayvon hit ONLY. George never landed a punch. He did land a bullet, though, and he landed it well.

He objected to her testifying in narrative form and wanted her instead to testify to the exact words that she heard from Martin over the phone.

They keep trying to get her to say it was “racist” and she keeps saying “rapist.” That underbite can make things a bit hard to understand.
To be fair, I believe she’s as well qualified and reasonable as most television “news” readers and opinionators.

Honesty, maybe - or just the desire to portray her guy as being aggressive. I’m not sure this girl has the capacity to think too far ahead...or remember too far behind. Stuff just pops out.
