WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chances are, your local or state police departments have photographs of your car in their files, noting where you were driving on a particular day, even if you never did anything wrong.
Using automated scanners, law enforcement agencies across the country have amassed millions of digital records on the location and movement of every vehicle with a license plate, according to a study published Wednesday by the American Civil Liberties Union. Affixed to police cars, bridges or buildings, the scanners capture images of passing or parked vehicles and note their location, uploading that information into police databases. Departments keep the records for weeks or years, sometimes indefinitely.

Have any murders or other serious crimes been solved by this tracking technology?
What are they going to do with this information? Just keep it for no reason? Or is it all for tax/revenue generation?
“That IR device is great with multiple applications.”
Indeed. I am a former NFL player and sometimes color commentator. The IR blocker and also a laser product are used by serious security folks to stop paparazi.
I wonder if anyone has tried to order plates such as “FU-NSA” or something similar?
On another note, thanks for the link to the Zimmerman website. They need our prayers and support, most definitely. Reading it just made me very angry. I pray that God will use their sacrifice and persecution to His glory in some way that we cannot fathom right now.
One last thought: I would not want to be standing in obama or holder’s shoes on Judgment Day. I cannot understand what it would be like to live with such intense hatred as part of your daily existence. I may not make it to heaven myself, but these people have some major work to do on “loving your fellow man.” They must think it means, “Love your fellow man, UNLESS he’s Whitey or a Republican or you otherwise need to persecute him to further your Marxist agenda.” I do pray for them on occasion (not as often as i should); it’s the only way to keep that Hate from creeping into ME!
Now, off to brush up on the history of the Stalin show trials...
Ok, I am hooked. As Paul Harvey used to say, I want the “Rest of the Story”
I ride a bicycle a fair amount, but it doesn’t have a license plate. I wonder how long it will be before it’s required?
Can’t have the peasants pedaling around anonymously, y’know.
bump for later
Republicans in congress are sure screaming about this\ sarc.
Get infrared LEDs here:

They come in a large variety of wavelengths. Some experimentation might be needed.
These are Tennessee made...... Knoxville.
They function like the NSA. Only bad guys are the quarry. : )
great idea. It’d be nice to find out Angela Corey’s license plate number.
Lol. Sorry, i lost track of what thread i was on. For anyone wanting that link, it’s here:

According to the Graham/Bliley/Leach act, a person with such ability (to locate someone), would have to have a legal reason (i.e. subpoena etc.). Otherwise, it would be a piece of cake...
5.56mm
Mine doesn't. ;-)
LOL! That’s funny!
Those photo mask covers and other devices claimed to alter the legibility of the license plate were extensively studied by the State of Washington before tolls went in on the 520 bridge. Conclusion: The devices didn’t work; in fact, one particular mask ENHANCED the performance of the optical character recognition system. So don’t waste your money. German engineers have been working on the cameras for 30 years. In addition, any sort of masking device is reason in itself to pull your car over in many states.

I thought you’d like that.
bkmk
I am no computer guy, but wouldn’t that delete the database?
Use a camera cover. I got a ticket from a traffic cam some years back and said enough of this bullshit. Been using a camera cover ever since and no problems since then.
