Trillions of dollars worth of oil found in Australian outback
Up to 233 billion barrels of oil has been discovered in the Australian outback that could be worth trillions of dollars, in a find that could turn the region into a new Saudi Arabia.
The discovery in central Australia was reported by Linc Energy to the stock exchange and was based on two consultants reports, though it is not yet known how commercially viable it will be to access the oil.

Goodonya, mates !
The only oil I knew from Australia was Midnight Oil.

What was that old scare-tactic book? Zero oil or final oil or something similarly forgettable ...
Peak oil?
Better than 233 billion barrels of Vegemite.
It doesn’t appear that crude oil is a fossil fuel. Old pumped out oil fields refill. It appears to be a product of the internal workings of our planet, pressure/heat...or so it seems to me.
And just across the water from China or Japan.
The good thing about Australia is that they don’t seem to mind using the natural resources they have available.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see China attempt to secure the mineral/oil rights in that country.
It isn’t OPEC. Non-OPEC oil makes Earth Mother weep.
OPEC oil, on the other hand, makes her smile.
I wonder if it is easier to pump being up side down?
While I totally agree with you on the distilation of gases creating pockets of oil and gas, you will get ripped to shreds by a whole lot of people for claiming such notions.
NP, I’m used to it. :{)
It’s already been done and proven in the labs.
Simple organic material, (pretty much anything with carbon, limestone would work), under tremendous pressure and heat along with a reducing agent (iron does a great job, there’s a little of that in the Earths crust) and soon you are seeing longer and longer carbon-hydrogen chains forming.
It boils/bubbles up, gets caught under various rock formations, condenses, and there ya go. Texas tea. Rude and crude!
I agree. Don’t tell Al Gore, though, he’ll spew. All that energy bundled in oil can be created by a breakdown of organics in creatures. But fossils can’t account for the tremendous amounts that are present and that seem to regenerate from deep within the Earth. Natural processes that don’t involve breakdown of former living creatures seem more prevalent. Many predict we’ll find crude oil on other planetary bodies that never supported life. That’ll be the proof.
Australian outback ? Where the endangered Aussie snail lives? This must be stopped now!
You know their lead singer became the Australian Minister for the Environment, Heritage and the Arts? Of course he's a member of some nuclear disarmament party.
