Former Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Liz Cheney will run against Wyoming's senior U.S. senator in next year's Republican primary, her campaign said Tuesday.
Liz Cheney, 46, is the elder of Dick Cheney's two daughters. Her announcement is a political challenge unlike anything Wyoming has seen for years, maybe decades.
Republicans in the state rarely challenge incumbents of their own party in national office. All three members of the state's congressional delegation and all statewide elected officials are Republican.
Liz Cheney is married and has five children. She hasn't been a longtime Wyoming resident but she and her husband bought a home in the posh northwest Wyoming community of Jackson Hole last year.
"I am running because I know, as a mother and a patriot, we can no longer afford simply to go along to get along. We can't continue business as usual in Washington," Cheney said in a statement.
Meanwhile, apparently aware that Cheney's announcement was imminent, Sen. Mike Enzi announced his bid for a fourth term. He made the announcement more than six months earlier in the political cycle than he has in the past.
Enzi said he would continue to "do the job I was already elected to do."

I agree.
As one who once just loved Cheney, I now realize how non-conservative he is. This daughter does not really strike me as conservative either — just another GOPe.
Ditto
Thought the man was great until I heard him say that homosexuals and in this case cross dressers should serve openly whilst ignoring how record levels of men have been raped since don’t ask was overturned .
His daughter would get is into more wars like McCain and if she wanted to run then why not go after a Dem, why is she going after a republican seat, is this because the RINOs saw the tea party and want their own I power even more so?
she’s HOT and she’s smart!
Senator Enzi teamed up with Senator Durbin on the Internet tax.
Liz Cheney: Because the GOPe doesn’t think it has enough power or influence.
Liz Cheney is a social liberal, she supports the homosexual agenda, and so far has no position on abortion.
She has my support.
To a man?
I guess so but I'll just keep asking "Is she the lesbian one?" until she goes away.
I like her and I live and vote in Wyoming.
“Our trust should be in the Lord, but we are to occupy until He comes again. Our hope and future doesnt lie with politicians.”
Sure, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t vote for who we think will best represent us.

I liked him a lot, too. But no longer. It’s all a big game and Dick Cheney is a knowing participant.
GHW Bush kissing up to Obama at the White House yesterday is proof that it’s all a big farce. Kissing up to an avowed enemy of the USA bent on it’s destruction is unforgivable.
I am shocked she is 46. I thought 55-60 easily.
O)K, support for an internet tax is enough for me. Go, Liz.
Duh, that’s exactly what I was saying - occupy - and that means being a concerned citizen. I don’t live in Wyoming and only know Liz from being on some programs on Fox News. I didn’t hear anything objectionable from what she said
Mark Levin endorsed her. So, she must be ok. One thing people seem to forget - and I’ll probably catch a few purist tomatoes for this - is that God loves the homosexual as much as He does any of us. Now, that doesn’t mean we ignore the sin, and it is linked in the list of sins in the NT along side adulterers, fornicators, etc. We do not embrace nor encourage their lifestyle, but we must remember that Jesus died for them as well as us.
Ok, start throwing your holier-than-thou darts at me.
We’ve had 12 years of the Bush’s, 8 of Clinton, and will have 8 of Obama before our next hopefully free Presidential election.
These folks consider themselves royalty and above us peasants. Enough of them.
If you don’t change the results will be the same.
Too close of a new world order connection for my taste.
Even with some changes, we’ll always have the RINOs among us. Unfortunately, in this day and age - it takes money to run for office. This isn’t the era of Abraham Lincoln or Davy Crockett.
Perfectly said; we love the people, but that doesn’t mean we support their sin or choices, as we are ALL sinners.
So you accept what your betters offer. got it.
