After Trayvon Martin Slaying, Holder Blasts ´Stand Your Ground´
Wall Street Journal ^ | 7/16/13 | Devlin Barrett

Attorney General Eric Holder blasted "stand-your-ground laws" in the wake of the acquittal of George Zimmerman for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin—saying such laws cause more violence than they prevent. Mr. Holder, speaking to the NAACP Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla., not far from where Mr. Zimmerman was acquitted last week, took direct aim at stand-your-ground laws, which say a person can use force in self-defense without first attempting to retreat from the situation. "Separate and apart from the case that has drawn the nation´s attention, it´s time to question laws that senselessly expand the concept of self-defense and sow

Al looks old and sick!

The hair looks like Al's but the face looks like Juan Williams. Somebody messing with PhotoShop again? The body looks way to skinny for Rev. Al's Phat Azz!

GtG

Stand your Ground had absolutely nothing to do with this case.

The illiterate racist running the DOJ is incapable of recognizing that "stand your ground" was never invoked for this case. When can we have his incompetent butt fired?

Stand your Ground had absolutely nothing to do with this case.

They have come out with a couple of public statements to see if they can get some linkage to the 2nd amendment. Kind of hard to win on that message with riots and murders going on afterwards.

Yet another reason I am ever so glad to live in Texas with the ‘Castle Doctrine’. When thugs attempt to attack or steal from someone on their own property, these thugs are usually dealt the business end of a firearm. No bodily harm to property owner or stolen property from said owner and the thug is toes up, assuming room temperature. I call that a win-win.

[ the only retreating I’ll do, is to another room where more guns are. ]

Absolutely Digger!

Excellent point ... amid selective taps of .40 as you fetch your rifle. That’s how I view my carry, on-property.

In the morning, watch goes on the wrist, wallet goes in the back pocket, Sig goes in the Yaqui slide. Spare mag in the other back pocket, lessee .. pen, uh, glasses. Prolly seems comfy to us, and out of bounds for the more gentile common folk (read: low info voters).

Okay, that’s what I do (and no doubt many here do) and it’s better than no plan, and it likely covers most stupidy we’ll meet.

However, comma, for the 20 to 500+m, the 5% of situations when only-God-knows-how-it-got-here, you need a plan to get you from WTF(in spite of you having a carry and heightened awareness, extra mags, etc.) to a position of a higher quality confidence ... well, (just guessing here) this plan would likely place you in the proximity of your main battle rifle (which you likely referred to as your sport utility rifle, SUR, before now).

Agree with ya here Digger: Have a dynamic plan.

On the upside, there’s sheepdawgs all the hell over the place.

Haven’t had the chance to read all the posts, so someone else may have already made this point, but...

The right and duty of self-defense is the first law of nature. This right is God-given and therefore unalienable.

“Among the natural rights of the Colonists are these: First, a right to life; Secondly, to liberty; Thirdly, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can. These are evident branches of, rather than deductions from, the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature. … it is the greatest absurdity to suppose it in the power of one, or any number of men, at entering into society, to renounce their essential natural rights, or the means of preserving those rights; when the grand end of civil government, from the very nature of its institution, is for the support, protection, and defense of those very rights; the principal of which, as is before observed, are Life, Liberty, and Property. If men, through fear, fraud, or mistake, should in terms renounce or give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the grand end of society would absolutely vacate such renunciation. The right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of man to alienate this gift and voluntarily become a slave.”

– Samuel Adams, The Rights of the Colonists, The Report of the Committee of Correspondence to the Boston Town Meeting, Nov. 20, 1772

Woof !

Never go armed where ya wouldn’t go unarmed..... Knowledge is 99.999999% of ones ability to survive in my experience.

Same here as to EDC carry GR.. Since age 17.5 I have carried a sidearm or rifle every day. Not even a second thought.

Vote with yer dollars folks ! Elections are less and less likely to matter....

Cash is king in politics.

Hope yer well GR ! Add an additional mag btw , two plus the one in the pistol is warmer and fuzzier during these trying times of unrest.

Stay safe !

Maybe this sounds harsh, but I’m sick of the whole bunch of them.

Holder wants a law against 'dissing' a black person.

And another law against a white person walking behind a black person.

And a law against a white person being 'sick of the whole bunch of 'em'...

So Catsrus - you need to be careful - - Holder's got your number...along with mine and Zimmerman and every other person on the planet - courtesy of the NSA and FBI. Is this the country you grew up in?
