Both the (Transportation Safety Board") and KTVU-TV of Oakland, Calif., have apologized for a mistake that led the television station to broadcast incorrect and racially insensitive names of the pilots of Asiana Flight 214, which crashed at San Francisco airport July 6, killing three. But the airline is considering legal action against the two organizations, (CNN reports).
KTVU on Friday reported what it thought were the names of the Asiana pilots, but the names were clearly fabrications intended as crude phonetic jokes. One of the pilot names reported by KTVU, for instance, was "Wi Tu Lo."

Wei Fook Ng funny
Ah, but if it goes to trial, will the jury be able to keep a straight face?
The “joke” is how easily a news organization can be fooled, leading to the realization that deliberate fabrications from government, business, and various pressure groups can and are passed straight through to us on a regular basis.
These people at the airline really need some PR help. In three days, this story will be forgotten, unless they choose to keep it alive. Idiots.
Anyway, I would like someone to explain to me exactly why those names are “racist”, within the bounds of the definition of the word “racist”.
What Woe!
PC police at full alert.
It’s a story because the government confirmed the names.
Asiana Airlines has just released the names of the crew in the B-777 accident in SFO.
Pilot in Command: Captain Sum Ting Wongu
Line Check Airman: Captain Wi Tu Lo
First Officer: Ho Lee Fuk
First Officer: Bang Ding Ow
Maybe the best prank ever!
In Obama's world EVERYTHING is racist/political.
Screw these thin skinned idiots. A joke is a joke. Yes two people tragically died and that’s nothing to joke about BUT still ... come on people.
The closest thing to "racist" would probably be that the phonetic pronunciations of one or two of the "names" could be seen as making fun of people speaking rather broken English with an Asian accent, I suppose. Good luck suing over it though (zero chance of damages; this is clearly protected speech under the First Amendment).
PR 101- Don’t bring additional unnecessary attention to yourself in an already highly negative situation.
Asiana knows very well how one deflects and redirect here in the good old USA
Your pilots miss a runway and fly their plane into a break wall on a clear, calm sunny day, and kill 3 people, but somehow the news is about a “racist” prankster calling their pilot “Sum Ding Wong”
Well done!
If it can be shown that these names did,in fact, come from the NTSB or FAA I can’t see the airline prevailing against the TV station.
this is the funniest thing i have ever heard and the woman just keeps on goin. putting the news readers in their place is just excellent
So now we defend and outlet of the MSM against those damned narrow-eyed Koreans? KTVU may be manipulators, but they are OUR manipulators!
