After Marshall Duer-Balkind, 30, exited a blood donation center on Friday morning, he held up a long green form as evidence that he had been rejected as a blood donor.
On the form Duer-Balkind pointed out that section that disqualified him from being a blood donor because of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration policy that bans men who have sex with men from giving blood.
After Duer-Balkind showed the form to two volunteers from the National Gay Blood Drive demonstration, the volunteers pulled out a red ink pad and stamped Rejected on his forearm.
The stamp was proof that Duer-Balkind had taken part in a nationwide demonstration to protest the FDA policy, which bans men who have sex with men from donating blood, since they are considered at a higher risk for having HIV.
I think its an absolutely ridiculous and antiquated policy, said Duer-Balkind, who had come to participate in the demonstration during a vacation in New York.
There were more than 50 demonstrations planned as part of the National Gay Blood Drive in various U.S. cities on Friday. The drive was planned to help draw attention to the number of potential blood donors who are automatically disqualified due to their sexual orientation. In addition to men who have sex with men, women are disqualified from giving blood if within the last 12 months they have had sex with a man who at any point since 1977 has sex with another man.

Some entrepreneurial type could probably make some money doing that....allowing people to set aside their OWN blood for possible use by themselves, or another person they designate...kinda like giving away a kidney (which a friend of mine did.)
Equality means AIDS for all.
Storage of your own blood information.....hmmmm....

Blood banks will already do that; it’s an autologous donation. Prior to scheduled surgery, for example.
Haven’t you heard? Rules against gay blood donations are just an effort to demean them. They have a constitutional right to taint the national blood supply. Justice Kennedy said so.
That’s a misleading title. I thought I would see a step-by-step procedure from venipuncture to your freezer settings and which brand of plastic bag to use. :-)
oh how you make me chuckle...must be the Army guy is us...geez, remember back in the day how that would have been handled in the platoon barracks...
these faggots wont stop until they kill us all
HIV for everyone!!
Better not need a transfusion.
No one’s personal blood is “banked;” it still goes into the blood supply. You just get credit for it.
A few years back I had my hip replaced at a large Boston hospital. The surgeon told me that I was likely to lose enough blood during the procedure to require a transfusion and he advised me to have my own blood stored beforehand so I could get it back during the surgery.I was surprised how *strongly* he recommended it...almost as if he didn’t fully trust the local blood supply.Maybe he had good reason...they don’t call it “The Gay State” for nothing.
A lot of hemophiliacs got Aids from tainted blood products back in the day because homos refused to stop selling their blood.
Exactly: Everyone should have an equal chance of getting bad blood from a fag donor.
Betcha the elites blood is banked prior to surgery.
I’m talking Bush, Gore, Clinton, Romney, Gates, etc.
It’s just the peons (way too many of us mind you) who have to play roulette with the blood supply.
Friend of mine is bad off with untreatable HepC he got from a transfusion post encounter with DUI driver in Mass.
Before they started testing the supply for that.
