As bogus and offensive as those names might be, I still haven’t seen them, and maybe I’m lucky not to have.

distraction from the plain fact that their pilots don’t know the basics of landing an aircraft

Sounds more important than the 911 calls pleading for help after 20 minutes on the tarmac after the crash or what the hell were the flight crew doing while this was going on, texting? playing games on thier phones? More importantly here, is that we are sensitive to the diverse atmosphere in this country. Sorry I just spit up in my mouth

Legal action? For what??? Some ditz getting pranked on-air?
If it was an American Airlines flight that crashed in S. Korea like that, and some reporter on Korean TV said the pilots were named Jack Meoff and Eyepee Freely, we would have just laughed and passed the video around for a week.
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Yes - let's focus on the pilot name prank and not the fact that they flew their plane into the ground.

This report is according to according to Asiana Air chief legal counsel Mee Soo Yu.

The phony names do not hurt their reputation near as much as their pilot who flew their plane into the ground.

SEOUL, South Korea Asiana Airlines said Sunday its reputation was damaged by a report on a San Francisco TV station that used bogus and racially offensive names for four pilots on its plane that crashed earlier this month and is considering legal action.

I do not think that the joke was funny in view of the accident and also it's one of those "tired" (hackneyed) jokes.
It did remind me of Wang Wei People's Republic of China air force pilot who was killed in the Hainan Island incident; that happened early in the Bush Administration when Wang Wei buzzed a U.S. Navy four-engine plane the wrong way -- a little too closely, clipped a wing and crashed.
There was a wedding announcement decades ago in the San Francisco Chronicle where the two last names combined for a relatively obscene reference.

I’m just reading these reports for the first time this morning..and find those remarks in extremely poor taste. An airliner was lost as were lives and injuries. Not a laughing matter.
