The George Zimmerman case should never have been brought. Saturday night after the not guilty verdict was delivered, State Attorney Angela Corey justified bringing the case to put the facts out there. But criminal cases should never be brought simply to put the facts before the public.
No one should be charged with a crime unless prosecutors themselves really believe that the person committed a crime.
Yet, the prosecution and their own experts language consistently showed a lack of certainty. Prosecutors arent supposed to bring cases where the best they can say is that something might possibly have happened or that there was a chance that it did.
Usually defense attorneys are the ones trying to get prosecution witnesses to concede that alternative explanations might be possible. In the Zimmerman trial, even the prosecution couldnt get definite statements out of their own witnesses.
By the end of the trial, with the prosecution conceding that Travyon Martin was likely on top of Zimmerman, prosecutors were forced to speculate that possibly Martin was about to get off of Zimmerman when he was shot. That, by itself, completely undermined the prosecution's claim that Martin was the one calling for help.
The case was so weak that the local Sanford District Attorney refused to bring charges against Zimmerman. That is why, on the orders of the governor, an outside District Attorney, Angela Corey, had to be brought in to handle it.....

So what's she saying? "Oh, we didn't think he did it either, but no amount of fear, stress, and expense is too much for someone else to bear, if I can get some face time and 'get some facts out there'"? Sheesh, she's obviously not in defense mode for the malicious prosecution lawsuit yet. Better dummy up quick (no pun intended), Angela!
The prosecution argued for the defense.
Weirdest thing I ever saw... Short of Rosanne Barr singing the National Anthem...
Those were my thoughts as well.
Zimmerman has a far greater chance of winning a malicious prosecution case against her than the state had in their absurd case against him.
I hope Zimmerman cleans up in lawsuits against the state and local prosecutors and also against NBC.
NBC will settle out of court IMO.
They look extremely dirty with their doctored audio recording... not a leg to stand on.
Fox News is really effed up.
I do not watch many trials, but this one I did. I have to agree with your observation. It was surreal. Maybe not as surreal as Rosanne Barrr singing the National Anthem or any song for that matter. But the fat lady did sing tonight (metaphorically speaking).
This case should never have been brought by prosecutors, but they let race-baiting politics dictate their decision.
I saw Jeanine Pirro go ballistic over this on Geraldo Rivera's show tonight.
Pirro said that the justice system should only be used for what it was designed for. A prosecutor should only charge someone when they have the facts to prove the case. The justice system should not be used "to put facts out there." You should be confident that you have the facts to convict before turning some family's lives upside down for 18 months.
She closed by saying that the justice system should not be used to advance the agenda of one political party.

“We Should Have Never Witnessed The Zimmerman Trial”
Truer words were never said.
The media refused to cover the Gosnell trial because it was a “local matter”. Well, so was this.
This whole thing was ginned up by the media, sports/entertainment people and politicians (including The Won).
If there are riots... they are the ones to blame.
You’re right! LOL.
She’s angry!
Angela Corey is a vile person, but she is merely one of the lesser imps.
Rick Scott and Pam Bondi, both Republicans like Corey, are the demons that unleashed the imps, and we’ve yet to see if the Devils in Washington are willing to let this matter drop.
No comment from Dear Leader? No call for restraint? He doesn't want restraint. He's licking his lips hoping chaos will ensue.
I know if someone jumped me in the dark, I would assume he was over 18 and armed. That's why you carry a gun in the first place. If Martin was scared as they seem to imply, why didn't he run home in the 4 minutes he had? Why didn't he hang up on his HO and dial 911?
This whole thing is really confusing for me. As it is, I guess until someone gives me some answers I will have to do what I always thought was the right thing and that would be to shoot and ask questions later. If you are beating my ass, I don't think I will wait for brain damage before using the gun I purchased for that reason. It seems to me a lot easier if Martin would have just gone about his business and not confronted Zimmerman. Asking someone you are frightened with "What the "eff" is your problem", is not the way I would start a conversation with someone I was frightened of. If Zimmerman was telling the truth, he wasn't even going to say anything to Martin until the cops came. If Martin just went home, Zimmerman would have been waiting for a cop and Martin would be eating his Skittles in front of the TV at dad's house.
PS. You don't walk around houses under the eves to look in windows just because it's raining. If it's raining going to 7-11, then you can walk in the rain on the sidewalks going home. Sculking around windows under the eves looks bad and will probably draw attention to yourself.
Angela Corey should be tried for malicious prosecution. Put the facts out there and see what a jury says.

Find a photo of the place. The eaves are VERY small. Lots of bushes and privacy fences next to the buildings. (Oh - the buildings are two stories - so those tiny eaves wouldn’t do much good anyway.
No way was Martin by the buildings to “stay out of the rain”.
The conduct of the prosecution and the judge was pure kangaroo court. Thank God the jury kept its head and delivered the right decision. A win for justice but it should have never come down to this. And George Zimmerman, what now for him? If I were he, Australia or New Zealand would be under consideration.
