Color me ... reclusive? But didn't juries used to have 12 people? As in "12 Angry Men?"

It is very odd to have only a 6 person jury in a capital case.

I must wonder if the defense agreed to it.

The number of jurors varies by state. In my state it is 12, but I have heard of 6 in other states.

I always thought criminal trials had 12 jurors, and civil trials had 6, but I was corrected on FR a week or two ago, by someone saying that it varied state-by-state. News to me.
