I've noted their backgrounds and some of them have jobs that requires a good deal of intellect. They are solid women. You can bet the one married to an attorney is making sure the details are covered, plus she has a responsible job herself as I recall. I think one or two are married to engineers and they would have to be a good detail person to be successfully married to an engineer, plus they have solid jobs. I'm writing this out of recall from briefly seeing their backgrounds, but I was impressed at the time. Also, except for one, they are white. Instead of seeing Trayvon as a sweet baby, they may see him as a black man in a hoodie at night walking their neighborhood. I don't know how they are going about this, but I think it will be properly done in detail and they deserve respect for their efforts.

I think his closing was brilliant and that he holds the advantage over all of us, because he “knows” the jury, in that he’s seen their reactions to evidence and the lawyers every day.

Well stated. He selected them , and has had the first hand view of their attention/reactions each and every day.

Also, i think he knew it would come down to emotion vs fact, and scripted his close the way he wanted it to appeal to them in the best way possible.

Good post. I didn’t know any of that. There has been some discussion about Why 6 women? I was surprised myself but trust MOM & West in their choices. They were happy with the final group. It is just I have never known 6 women in a room who could agree on Anything!

Delayed response here, got caught in the earlier posting problems.

The jury runs the show. It’s up to them to come to the judge and say “we’ll can’t agree”. Until then, they set their own schedule (within reason), and can talk until Sanford freezes over.

If they do return, usually the judge will read them an instruction that says, “try harder” and send them out again. If they come back and say, “No, see... we really can’t agree”, the judge will excuse them and declare a mistrial.

Thanks, Bunny. I also heard/read that on a TV station. They showed a chart with that information. I felt good about their knowledge of weapons.
