I've noted their backgrounds and some of them have jobs that requires a good deal of intellect. They are solid women. You can bet the one married to an attorney is making sure the details are covered, plus she has a responsible job herself as I recall. I think one or two are married to engineers and they would have to be a good detail person to be successfully married to an engineer, plus they have solid jobs. I'm writing this out of recall from briefly seeing their backgrounds, but I was impressed at the time. Also, except for one, they are white. Instead of seeing Trayvon as a sweet baby, they may see him as a black man in a hoodie at night walking their neighborhood. I don't know how they are going about this, but I think it will be properly done in detail and they deserve respect for their efforts.
Re: women jurors
Good post. I didn’t know any of that. There has been some discussion about Why 6 women? I was surprised myself but trust MOM & West in their choices. They were happy with the final group. It is just I have never known 6 women in a room who could agree on Anything!
And by taking their time and being very thoughtful and careful, it leaves less room for the media to try to say that they just reached a verdict based on "race" without duly considering the facts. I am glad they are taking their time and being careful. I'm praying for George Zimmerman, too. This trial is not just about him, it is a precedent setting trial for people's perceptions of whether or not they are allowed to defend themselves in this type of situation.
