'Crackers,' a 'teenage mammy' -- the sorry truth about race and Zimmerman trial (OK, then fizzles)
Fox News ^ | July 11, 2013 | Juan Williams

Posted on 07/12/2013 5:05:51 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

"White Hispanics," "Creepy-Ass Crackers," "Teenage Mammies," and "Suspicious A--holes who always get away" -- that is the vernacular of the George Zimmerman trial.

George Zimmerman faces life in jail as a jury considers second-degree murder charges against him for killing 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. But thanks to the media he is already sentenced to life in the American public's mind as a racist.

NBC edited a tape of Zimmerman’s call to police as he was following Martin to make him appear to be focused on Martin’s race.

The New York Times has referred to him in unique racial terms as a “white Hispanic." The terminology was necessary to have the story fit into a well-worn news narrative throughout American history from the Scottsboro Boys to Emmett Till to Rodney King – the black victim of white racism. Hispanic people can be as racist as black or white people in a country with a deep history of racism. But, apparently for the Times, Zimmerman's whiteness was important. It fit their good versus evil tale of a white racist killing an innocent black man.....

For a time last year, it seemed Juan Williams appeared to see the proverbial light and was moving toward the political center.... since then, his chain has been yanked hard, pulling him back onto the plantation.

Juan is out of touch with the Feral Urban Youth thug culture or he would have known the homophobic meaning of “creep ass-cracker.” as used by St. Trayvon.

It’s disgusting, news articles are much more likely to be based on gossip than on observation and research.

Wait a minute! David Horowitz said he was a good kid who wanted to become a pilot:

"In fact he appears to have been a decent teenager with an ambition to go to college and become a pilot."

I'm so tired of arguing the minutiae with this case, but Williams proves that he's drank the MSM Kool Aid on this case with this:

Zimmerman should have listened to the 911 emergency dispatch operator who told him to stop following Martin

Zimmerman called the non-emergency sheriff's office number that is manned by volunteers and sheriff's reserve officers. They are not emergency dispatch and are required to forward the call to emergency dispatch if they believe there's an actual emergency.

Further, Zimmerman was under no legal obligation to follow the request of the sheriff's reserve officer. It is NOT illegal to follow someone nor is it illegal to confront someone if they are acting suspiciously.

Zimmerman was clearly caught off-guard, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the "mystery 2 minutes," and he acted in accordance with his right to self-defense when he was being pummeled by a black MAN who was taller, stronger, and younger than him.

Peal back everything else and you have a guy (Z) walking down a path, getting punched and staraddled MAA style, and then shooting in self defense.

Zimmerman certainly did some things wrong, but he did nothing illegal. The situation is sad.

Once in a while Juan can sound almost rational on an issue but he seems to lose his ability to think cleqarly and make fact based judgements when the subject is race or illegal immigration.

Just mention blacks, hispanics and/or illegals and he reverts to his true, blabbering liberal self, spouting the standard leftist talking points over and over.

I dont see where Zimmerman did ANYTHING wrong.

They make a big deal of the “911 operator” ordering him not to follow Saint Skittles.

Well, this was NOT 911 operator, it was a volunteer at the NON-emergency number, and she has no authority to ORDER him to do anything, but yet he does agree and starts heading back to his car.

He has every right as a homeowner AND neighborhood watch volunteer (the neighborhood wanted him to be doing this) to be watching over their houses and looking for any suspicious activity (i.e. someone wandering between buildings in the rain in the dark)

Juan just couldn't help himself from offering up,

Zimmerman should have listened to the 911 emergency dispatch operator who told him to stop following Martin.

Why? He didn't confront Martin, he just wanted to keep an eye on him, something that good concerned citizens do.

Why did he have a gun if he was simply part of a neighborhood watch program?

Because he felt we live in a dangerous society where thugs feel free to jump smaller victims. He was proven 100% correct.

He had no basis to suspect Martin of any crime. So why does he describe Martin as “suspicious” to police?

Because he was acting in a suspicious manner. All evidence supports the case that young Martin was a thief, so that makes Zimmerman perceptive, not paranoid.

Well, at least he tried at the end:
Ultimately, it is the job of the media to give straight, objective coverage of any story. Whatever the final verdict on Zimmerman, the media is clearly guilty of playing on the most primitive racial divisions in our society to fuel racial animosity and boost ratings. There are no winners here.

Just like some of those 19 fellows we heard about back about 12 years ago...

And if he didn’t make it through pilot training I’m sure his next step would have been medical school.

Perhaps the use of the word ‘wrong’ was a bit too descriptive.

I think a non-professional person (such as Z), seeing a ‘suspicious’ person in the neighborhood should call the police and then move on...go home....get lost. This is certainly what I would have done....simply because I would not want to get into any situation that I could not handle.

Way baack when I was in HS, I knew this guy who worked at a KMart. He saw someone shoplift an item and run out the store. My friend chased after him and after several hundred yards, he actually caught the guy. He then got his butt kicked for his troubles...and the guy ran off anyway. Again, sometimes the brain needs to engage before the feet start moving.

Just to reiterate, I do not think for one second that Zimmerman wasn’t justified in shooting Trayvon. With that said, I do think he should have used his brain to avoid the situation altogether....that’s all.

I think the growing assumption that policing is a job only for professionals is wrongheaded and reinforces the divide between police and the rest of the citizenry. As Robert Peel stated, "the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence" (my emphasis). When the police think they are separate from the rest of us it leads to authoritarian, entitled, and out-of-control police. When ordinary citizens think they are separate from the police it leads to a freer hand for criminals.

Your point about "non-professional" persons is well taken, though. There certainly is a limit to what a citizen should be expected to do. I think keeping tabs on a criminal or suspicious from a safe distance is not asking too much.
