According to the European Union’s law enforcement agency handling criminal intelligence, Italy’s mafia has infiltrated the nebulous “Green Energy” industry, not only for traditional money laundering purposes, but also to capitalize on lucrative EU subsidies.

On Thursday, Europol published a report suggesting that the mafia is making investments into the renewable energy industry, with a special focus on wind farms due to generous grants paid for by European Union member states.

For an industry that is no stranger to scandals...

Actually I'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to have the Mafia in charge of this "green" scam instead of Al Gore and his loony cohorts... and if we have to choose one of the Devils for this giant scam and balderdash.

Same answer as when they asked Dillinger why he robbed banks.

You are 100% right, except that it was Willie Sutton, not Dillinger — “Because that’s where the money is”.

Not only that, we’ve had countless examples of money poured down the green rat hole, and when it’s made public, half the public defends it because it’s “for the environment”, and the other half yawns.

So you have a large but ill defined market sector with a huge funding source, no requirement to actually succeed, and a public that’s happy to keep it going because it’s “for the environment”. Why wouldn’t the Mafia get a piece of that?

Besides, the Mafia have a long history of involvement in environmental causes.

In the words of Thornton Melon,

“There’s the long-term costs, such as waste disposal.

I don’t know if you’re familiar with who runs that business...

but I assure you it’s not the boy scouts.”
