The Judge in the Zimmerman trial just ruled that the jury will not get to see numerous text messages on Trayvon Martin’s phone regarding his prowess at fighting, including texts as to how to punch someone in the nose and make them bleed.
The Judge did not give an explanation for her ruling other than to stand by her prior ruling as to social media evidence.
It is not clear if the Judge found a lack of authentication, which was one of the arguments last night. The Judge did indicate she reviewed the Lumarque case in which a trial court was reversed for failing to allow text messages.
The Judge also ruled that an animated video prepared by the defense (consisting of still animation pages, not motion) will not be allowed in evidence, but could be used as a demonstrative exhibit by the defense. That means that the animation images are merely part of the defense argument, probably in closing, not evidence the jury takes back into the jury room.

The “Judge” just wants a conviction no matter what.
She KNOWS she is committing plain error which will get conviction reversed.
Hope the Jury is not as similarly corrupted.
Everything in this case is upside down.
Remember the initial Judge forced perjury charges to be filed against George and his wife because they failed to reveal the defense fund coming in when they had a bond hearing. That is still hanging over their heads.
It is a total Kafkaesque nightmare for this family (just because he carried a gun and was forced to use it)
Absolutely pathetic. They go to the heart of who he was. The only upside is that this makes a great reason to overturn the case on appeal should things not go Zimmerman’s way.
Why would anyone be opposed to openness, especially when a man’s life is on the line?

This idiot judge may be Zimm’s best friend. IF (big if) George is convicted, she is guaranteeing him all sorts of grounds for reversal.
Did you see that thread from Conservative Treehouse? One of the major reasons the judge and the State want the phone records kept hidden is that they prove St. Skittles and “Fruit” (Tracy) were dealing in illegal guns together.

There's a difference between that kind of case (where there was a long history between the combatants) and this one (where there was not). That's not to say that these texts shouldn't come in (they should), but it's a different kind of case.

The judge is on the side of the prosecution.

Amazing how this "judge" allowed hearsay from all trademarks friends, but wont allow trademark himself to be presented!
I like that they can use the demo animation in the closing argument, that is probably even better (no cross examination by the idiot prosecutors?)
But the texts should absolutely have been let in- they show the budding young THUG Traycon was, not the saint skittles they portray

Bad call. I don’t know Florida rules of evidence, but in many states this sort of evidence is admissible in self-defense cases to show the dead guy was the initial aggressor.

I would expect her appointment by Obama to an important Federal Judgeship sometime soon after her overseeing of the Kangaroo Kourt after Zimmerman is convicted and sentenced to state prison.
I agree. She couldn’t call him too late - she sure vacated her seat quickly.
She has been told not to worry about it. This judge is corrupt to the core and does exactly what she is told.
