The second degree murder trial of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin took a bizarre turn tonight as the judge presiding over the case stormed out of her courtroom over the objections of defense attorneys.
Judge Nelson had heard several hours of after hours arguments on proposed defense evidence and witnesses.
As the 10 o'clock hour drew near, Nelson announced the court would be in recess until 8 a.m. tomorrow, prompting objections from defense attorneys O'Mara and West that would not give them time to prepare for the day. Nelson told them she didn't want the jury to have to wait like they did this morning. As West complained that he physically could not keep up the pace the judge was forcing on the defense Nelson bolted from her chair and stormed out of the courtroom.
The entire 16 minutes of the YouTube video of the end of today's session is worth watching. Advance to the last few minutes, about 14:00, for the fireworks.

Of COURSE they can! But let's look at the overall general aspect of the natures of men and women! Good grief, this ain't rocket science!
Are you serious?
Only hysterics from women?
Wow. Just wow.
I’ll grant she doesn’t make women judges look so great, but by that logic, Obama doesn’t make men look like they’re capable of running a country.

Thank you, I can sleep tonight.
Hahahahah...rotflmao...good one! Touche!
The judge has talked down to defense from beginning as if they were children.
But at same time has not treated the Prosecution that way
In defense of your observation, we have Obamacare because a judge who should have known better, acted stupidly and upheld it. Judge "stupid" Roberts.
I hope you are right.
Dammit! Women can’t seem to understand what the heck I’m saying! I DID NOT SAY that there aren’t screwed up men! Let’s be REAL about the generally emotional nature of women! It is undeniable.
Who gives a flip about a 'frighten judge' which is all in her mind anyway. It is not reality but what is reality is Zimmerman's life is on the line and he's the one being threatened and has been since the beginning! If she can't stand the heat, she needs to do the right thing and step down so Zimmerman can have a 'fair trial'. She's an *ss walking out like that - unprofessional comes to mind. She cannot think past her fear or bias - unqualified to be a judge comes to mind, also.
Being a judge is all about justice.
I think you’re right. And the judge knows it, too. She’s frustrated with it all because it’s not going her way.
She probably had to go to the restroom.
Maybe it’s time for a massive counter protest! I’m tired of always being the good guy and diffusing the situation.
On what evidence did you base that opinion Sir or Madam?
I have watched this trial every day since it started. It has seemed to me almost from the beginning that the judge has been in the pocket of the prosecution. I have seen many instances of bias, for example, when she has sustained many objections of the prosecution, and very few of the defense.
To me, she has seemed downright rude to the defense on many occasions, but never to the prosecutions.
This video of her walking out on the trial.....is there a known case of that happening before?
About the judge’s comment about how could she know someone else didn;t send the texts—West correctly argued that the defense was not given the opportun ity or time to talk to the recipients of those messages to verify who sent them.
I present you as a demonstration of that.
I won't hold my breath, though.
That's probably because you can't.
Look. She’s a woman. It’s late, she tired and wants to go home and these DAMNED MEN are arguing with her. So, she reverts to womanhood, and simply gets mad and leaves. It’s nothing more complicated than that.
The bottom line with blacks I’ve met or read is that Zimmerman killed an unarmed black man. And he should be sent to prison for it.
Nothing about nuance [which is what the application of the law and the trial is all about.]
The trial is irrelevant to blacks. Zimmerman killed Trayvon. Send him to jail. End of story.
