Today, July 9th, is DAY #21 (of 5th week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case.
Yesterday was the first full day of defense witnesses. Perhaps the most significant of the first set were the two police officers who stated Tracy Martin, Trayvon’s father, said on 2/28/12 the cries for help on the 911 calls were NOT Trayvon. Later in the day Tracy Martin took the stand and essentially said the two detectives were lying. A great analysis of the events from yesterday is available HERE.
What additionally strikes as important to us is the first signs of desperation from the original nucleus of the Scheme Team construct, Benjamin Crump and Daryl Parks – attorneys for the Martin family. Parks appeared on Piers Morgan show last night and the video should be watched by anyone who knows how the scheme was constructed.
We accept that Mark O’Mara is conflicted in this case, and he is trying to walk a fine line between presenting a defense to a case built on political pressure and outright fraud; Yet simultaneously avoiding exposition of both the politics and the fraud itself.
The intentionally avoided open doors exposing the fraud creates anxiety for those of us who know what is inside the room he is avoiding. Our prayers are that his passing those wide open doors is based on prudence [within an unknown strategy]. However, our fear is the hasty and politically correct avoidance might cause him to pass by the room holding the key to George Zimmerman’s ultimate ‘long-term’ freedom.
It should be noted the NAACP Annual National Convention starts in Orlando on Friday; Additionally, preparations are being made in/around Miami-Dade for a Wednesday defense wrap up with a community/LEO preparation meeting today.

OMG - I tuned out after they put the animation guy back on around 3 or 4. I thought for sure they’d quit soon after. This stupid judge kept going? Holy cow! I have like 800 posts to catch up on!

Judge Nelson should be removed from her position as a judge.
She has allowed this to become a circus,and the State STILL has not proved any element necessary for Murder 2.
To a limited extent, I’ve had to deal with that issue - how to get this type of information into evidence. It can be tricky. It’s a question of laying the foundation. With enough time and subpoenas it can be done but not in 12 hours. What West is asking for is a sanction against the state because the state withheld evidence. This may be grounds for a mistrial which the defense doesn’t want but I’m not sure that it’s grounds for admission of the text messages. I do think that the video should go in with limits put on it in the jury instructions. Perhaps the texts could go in also with the jury being instructed that these were texts on the phone that Trayvon had at the time he was killed but that the source is not known. Leave it up to the jury. That’s what I would do if I were the judge. West is correct - defense should be favored on these issues. Judge knows that if Z is found guilty that she will likely be found to have committed reversible error. Judges hate being reversed. So at this time she has to be thinking, if Z is found innocent, even if the state appeals, he’s off the hook. She could still be found to have committed error but no harm no foul. I’ve had judges let evidence in for that reason alone.
All the talking heads agree technically, but all say if the shoe was on the other foot (pros wanted them in) the texts would be allowed with little authentication.
Geez....compare this text to the videos we have all seen on facebook (or whatever). They actually corroborate each other.

I agree in an even tempered situation that is what should happen. However, this judge is on the fast track to conviction express. She wants nothing less than that. Tomorrow she will rule, no animation, remove Donnelly testimony (yeah I know a bell rung joke), and whatever else she can push though by 9AM when “her Jury” will be back in.
A guy named Donnelly. Very powerful testimony ... a Viet vet. He sat in the audience which is a big no-no.
He’s likely to be yanked.

At what point in the trial did the defense learn about these text messages? I keep seeing how they were lied to but can’t find info on this thread to say how. (???)
I agree technically....However...add in Tray’s videos on facebook which actually corroborate the text messages.

You are welcome. It is good he said it out loud. 830am-10pm trial day is TOO LONG... All because judge is in a hurry for some unknown reason...
If his tesimony is yanked, shouldn’t the deceased family’s also be yanked? Big Mamma and her Trydemark Daddy have been there everyday.
Or he could FTP the file to a specified location. A CRC check or MD5 of the file would be enough to validate that it is the same file. This is not rocket science.
They used the towers for the Drew Peterson case.

Judge: And I know any seven year old can learn the passwords and get into that because they do it all the time.
West: The FDLE had his phone for a year and they couldn’t do it.
