...and now that I know why I will see it twice!
I agree. I had no plans to watch this film, haven’t even heard about it til now. but now I really want to watch it as a protest against the LGBT community.
There’s an old, old Hollywood apothegm to the effect that “there’s no such thing as bad publicity.”
Any such boycott will only have the effect of increasing ticket sales.
I’ll buy a ticket.
I do boycott films. Avatar was one. Any movie by Victor Salva is another.
I think this book was ok. Might watch the flick if Han solo dosent open his mouth about politics anytime soon.
The enemy’s gate is down.
Just damn, now I will be sure to see this movie, and no boycotts do not increase sales, buycotts do.
As we should expect, the article totally misreported Card’s position by calling it “anti-gay rights” when the proper understanding was that Card opposed the illogical construct of “gay marriage.” Card did not advocate for anybody to be put in stocks in the town square nor did he oppose any normal civil rights for same-sex couples. I’ve also not found any instance of Card using his books for any such advocacy within the storyline.
Like several other posters, I enjoyed the book and hope to find the movie does it justice. If it’s good enough, it might also earn a second viewing just to make a point of support for Card’s right to express himself in the public square on any moral matter.
Wiki says he is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is opposed to sex marriage, but says it since the Supreme Court ruling on DOMA, it will be legal in all 50 states.
I’ve read the book several times. It’s a classic in the genre and truly a classic in any genre. Thats why its suggested reading in the USMC. This is why its been translated into 33 languages.
I admit i would see this if Pelosi wrote it although it’s fortunate she’s incapable of much thought at all.
I haven’t been to a movie in over 20 years. I may break my record and go see this one. Maybe stop by Chic fil et for a sandwich to take with me.
I’ve not read the book. Just watched the trailer. Looks OK.
But, if the aliens know your strategies and fears then why do you want a new solider who isn’t supposed to think the way you think or fear what you fear only to be trained by...you?
I’ve never even heard of this movie until now.
If the scum is boycotting this movie, it must be a good one.
I’ve read the book. Not bad. Not classic either IMHO - not like Heinlein, Bradbury, Asimov ...
Turning the book into a movie would seem to present some real difficulties. Filming the zero gravity scenes in the Battle Room is not going to be an easy task. And those scenes are central to the story. I’ll probably watch it just to see how well they pull that off.
The book is hugely popular and I expect that will translate to a big box office.
Good publicity here.
Wow, No faggots at all in the theater. Sounds like a good movie to see.
