It's one of the most highly anticipated films of the upcoming holiday movie season, though "Ender's Game" now has a considerable amount of controversy to go with the hype.
Geeks OUT has launched an online protest of the film due to author Orson Scott Card being an outspoken opponent of gay marriage. Called "Skip Ender's Game," the boycott urges potential audiences to steer clear of the film, which is based on Card's popular 1985 novel.
"Do NOT see this movie! Do not buy a ticket at the theater, do not purchase the DVD, do not watch it on-demand," Geeks OUT officials write. "Ignore all merchandise and toys. However much you may have admired his books, keep your money out of Orson Scott Card's pockets."
Geeks OUT is organizing a series of "Skip Ender's Game" events in New York, Orlando, Seattle, and other major U.S. cities to coincide with the movie's debut this November.
Orson Scott Card has been an outspoken opponent of gay rights for several years.

They were American? I’m not being facetious here. I thought it was generic ‘Earth ‘ troops.
I refuse to watch it, I work in Alberta’s oil fields, and Cameron would love nothing more than to shut it down. He wants to destroy my income, I’m not helping his.
what? He was drawing not so subtle ideas that the military in the movie was the US military. I picked that up in 2 seconds into the first trailer I watched.
You both are analogy/satire/irony impaired. Cameron is one of the hate America first crowd. Of course now that zer0 is _resident he probably is proud of the new America.
I haven’t been to a movie in over 20 years. I may break my record and go see this one. Maybe stop by Chic fil et for a sandwich to take with me.
I’ve not read the book. Just watched the trailer. Looks OK.
But, if the aliens know your strategies and fears then why do you want a new solider who isn’t supposed to think the way you think or fear what you fear only to be trained by...you?
There’s a good reason in the book. I can’t vouch for how well that reason has been translated into the movie.
I’ve never even heard of this movie until now.
Action, in Ender’s Game series, or the Bean books? You’re kidding!!!
I remember maybe, 4 action scenes from the entire Ender series.
And any movie featuring Jamie "I get to kill all the white people, how great is that" Foxx. Pass on Spider Man 2.
If the scum is boycotting this movie, it must be a good one.
I’ve read the book. Not bad. Not classic either IMHO - not like Heinlein, Bradbury, Asimov ...
Turning the book into a movie would seem to present some real difficulties. Filming the zero gravity scenes in the Battle Room is not going to be an easy task. And those scenes are central to the story. I’ll probably watch it just to see how well they pull that off.
The book is hugely popular and I expect that will translate to a big box office.
Good publicity here.
I’ll watch “Avatar” for the eye candy, but I can’t help but laugh every time a character (or the movie in general) has a dramatic moment.
James Cameron hasn’t written characters well since “Aliens.” Even “Terminator 2,” one of my all-time favorites, has some awful writing.
“Avatar” is about a half-step below “True Lies” in its awfulness, but at least it’s pretty.
Wow, No faggots at all in the theater. Sounds like a good movie to see.
Chick-Fil-A effect.
World war, kidnapping, explosions, gunfights, intercontinental chases, murder, starships fighting....seemed like a lot of action to me.
I liked True Lies because the wife likes it. very rare to find a movie we can both watch.
speaking of beautiful movies, Peter Jackson's King Kong was visually impressive but RUINED the story of King Kong by making it more than politically correct....it took heroic characters and made them wimps, sissies and doofuses, pedophiles etc....what a waste.
I’ll be seeing it. I liked the book. They’ll probably butcher it though. A lot of the story was internal dialogue.
