Update: Here are the denials. Its unclear to me whether my sources know something Deutsch doesnt or were basing their opinion on his reporting. I will update for accuracy as it goes on.
Sources close to JHPolitics are confirming what was broken by Willie Deutsch of Bearing Drift. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell is, if reports are to be believed, resigning from office over pending corruption charges. Willies take:
The man who pushed out the RPV chairman over trumped up corruption charges while running for governor is currently in the middle of finalizing a plea agreement which includes his resignation as governor. More to come soon.
Article was posted after two people independently shared the story.
Multiple more sources confirming plea agreement is definitely being finalized.
I have previously reported on the ethical lapses that have plagued McDonnell. Up until now, its been unconfirmed whether the various gifts the McDonnell family received amounted to legal trouble. Obviously, they have. Say goodbye to a tax-hiking Governor who once had presidential ambitions.
The one winner? Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, who will (briefly) be able to fulfill his lifelong dream as serving as the Governor of Virginia.
Talk about presenting two different faces. All clean and sweet on the outside and then we learn the taxpayers are paying for his weekly enemas.
According to Laura Vozzella in the Washington Post, the McDonnell family has used its governmentsupplied credit card much like the GSA uses its card. Billing the taxpayers for body wash, sunscreen, dog vitamins and a digestive system detox cleanse.

>If you want to keep the carpetbagger Clinton crony out of office<
Where’s your outrage over a little thing known as “Global Crossing”?
Let’s see you post about that, then get back to us.
Where have I been? I had no idea McDonnell was in that kind of trouble.
Bttt & Thanks
He has managed to keep it out of the national news, but the Virginian Pilot and Daily Press, my local papers, have something new almost daily.
The last thing we need right now is a GOP scandal.
A high placed Republican in trouble - you were saying.
What, and you think McAuliffe wouldn’t or hasn’t accepted gifts from contractors. He is a greaser incarnate. A clintoon stooge and really quite a venal man. Global Crossing and his actions in it is on a par with Jon Corzine.
McAuliffe helped put the condom ornaments on the clintoon christmas tree.
What do the words “suspicion of contract fraud” mean and where do they come from? This is HOW it is done.. smears and implied actions. Always the scum dems try to force the “white as snow” conservatives to a standard THEY could care less about (since they are true manipulating pigs).
Weiner and Spitzer are both perverts. Bottom line, if they can rationalize that behaviour what other behaviour is OK? Pretty much anything— silly they think they have anything to offer the normal people in the world— pretty obvious they think they are above mere mortal’s personal morals.
Bingo— game, set, match. Whores in the same bed, and professional lying pols. All fits.
Did I defend McAuliffe somewhere? This thread is about McDonnell.
You are carrying water for McAuliffe’s “team” of clintoon thugs. This is how it is done— the leak, the response from “good govt.” conservatives who want to “clean house” (even if the story is false, such is their need for correction). End goal is achieved if the “target” resigns. Obama did this, and mcauliffe needs to do it— he is a major crook.
In any case it was/is ludicrous to (unless of course one is a social liberal— maybe) say that what spitzer and weiner didn’t compare. Acceptance of bizarre behaviour, in the face of provable incompetence in the first place doesn’t give a postive comparative vs. a piddling amount of personal item charges from a fired executive queer chef. The contracting claim remains to be seen.
It’s how politics is played by losers, and it is how we got obama, whom presumably most here do not like at all.
I don’t accept Spitzer and Weiner’s behavior, but Spitzer’s crime was minor and Weiner didn’t commit one. Cronyism and contract fraud are the root of the problem with government. Our area has been hammered with taxes, fees, and bad contracts orchestrated by McDonnell. I really don’t care if he has an “R” next to his name. I will call out McAuliffe on it as well and still plan to cast my vote for Cuccinelli, but I’m not going to accept cronyism and conflicts of interest from anyone. I’d much rather McDonnell be banging a hooker than organizing bad “public/private” deals for his friends.
No the one I had expected, but I had heard rumors of aan impending resignation.
